  1. Aye, we don’t spend it anyway, so it wouldn’t matter.

  2. Even if the option was 10 mill with man city having a 15/20 mill release clause would at least incentivise somewhat our desire to develop him, city get a few quid and they can have him back for peanuts (for them) should they desire

  3. No option to buy so we develop another club’s player and ignore one of our own. Pointless.

  4. Geez him on a loan to buy and City can put a buy back option in the deal

  5. Some of our fans lose their minds when the young boys get a chance to be fair. Look at the reaction to the starting lineup against Newcastle the other week, and that was a friendly. You had folk saying Rodgers was trying to show the board he needed players.

  6. We shouldn’t Pusey out of this one, sign him up.

  7. Sadly I think this one is nailed on. Seems to be the only concrete move we're pursuing. Loaning a player with no option to buy from a Premier League club that has a handful of pro appearances. Kid could turn out to be a good player but is a shocking level of ambition again.

Nicholson and Lawwell once again showing us all they don't have the competence to be in the positions they are in.

  8. That's a good deal. There has to be something in it for City to deal too.

  9. Im always against season long loans in general, all it does is kick the can down the road further.

In this boys case, if we can't agree a LTB then he comes and does good then we're back to square one next summer.

At the same time, if we get the boy from Liverpool on a LTB and buy two wingers, I could live with this, as I always expecting at least one loan player in

  10. Understand that viewpoint but the real world context is we’ve clearly been alerted to this guys availability so do we turn our nose up at him because we’ve got money in the bank or do we pursue it knowing he will increase the available quality at the back?

Wishful thinking but does it then, at least theoretically, mean there’s money that can be spent in forward areas which is a much more pressing issue?

  11. You could argue that the only reason we’re in the loan market to begin with is because we seem to have a very flawed valuation of players we’re targeting for permanent deals … we’ve wasted so much time lowballing clubs with ridiculous fees that everything is becoming a pressing issue in terms of positions we need to address.

Aye theoretically signing this boy on loan would mean we should spend more on forward areas … but you would also think us being in the strongest financial position we’ve ever been in as a club would also invite more ambition in recruitment.

We’re in that reality now and we’re kicking off the season with Yang and Idah starting.

  12. I'm probably leaning to the cynical view as well in that this is an easy option and we are used to negotiating with City so it's fine and easy to get done. And it doesn't require a substantial fee.

  14. I can't imagine this lad is coming in to be CCV long-term CB partner so it kind of reaffirms my suspicion that BR thinks our CB situation is fine and doesn't need improving. Which is wrong but there you go. Even if this lad does well here he'll be gone next summer and we'll be back to square one. It's all a bit 'kicking the can down the road' but it's the way we operate unfortunately.

  15. I’d imagine we also have an interest in keeping our City relationship sweet.

If he comes in I’m happy to have him. There’s always a chance that City decide to sell at the end of the season. I understand the problem with that is that we will have competition. But there’s always a chance of extending the loan as he’s only 19, there could be an option after the 2nd year. We really have to wait for these things to play out.

  16. We aren't wanting to develop players though, we're wanting to qualify for the CL and win the Treble.

If this guy is better than the others, then this is who we want.

  17. Hearing no option to buy. Whats the point of this deal. Unless he is going straight into the first team as a first pick I really don’t see any point in this deal. Might as well sign another J-league player for £1m

The 19-year-old has entered discussions with Celtic and the interest is real from Parkhead. Rodgers has always wanted defensive cover with Maik Nawrocki and Gus Lagerbielke gone and the City centre-half was quickly identified.
It's believed Celts hope Champions League football - or at least European minutes - will push them in front of the queue of other suitors. But we understand there is strong interest from clubs down south who could still compete.
