To answer your question question directly SD:

    1. I expect that as a rule we try to spend around half of what we receive in selling players on buying players. This feels like a minimum expectation given we have a 65-75m cash buffer on top player sales. So roughly speaking if we sell Kyogo for 10m, expect a 5m minimum replacement, Kuhn goes for 16m I expect an 8m replacement. Obviously there is felx in there depending on the market or positions we need to invest money but I do not expect two 1-2m signings because that is very unlikely to improve us.

    2. I expect that given we knew Kyogo was leaving in January, we replace him with a proper money signing in January. If we fail to do that I expect by the summer window that we have several 5-10m targets lined up and ready to go so by the time the season starts we have someone in place. I dont think a 1.5m replacement who has scored 2 in 20 for a mid table J league team is likely to improve us or allow us to even hold our position in the champions league never mind improve.

Thats it really. I dont expect us to be world beaters. Or compete with PSG and Real Madrid. Or even reinvest most of the money we make. Just show more ambition than 1-2m punts while we have 70m in the bank, and a plan based on not taking 8 months to replace your first striker when he leaves.

He’s starting to directly question the ambition of the club in his press duties, and rightly * so.

No chance he’s signing an extension, and why would he?

What is happening now is the exact reason why he justifiably patched us in the first place.

Say whatever you want about Rodgers but the guy wants the best for this club.

The fact he’s being so direct in his quotes now confirms that he knows he isn’t getting backed again.

Deja Vu with his comments. Past two summers he's said similar. Normally about this time in the window, too.

Quite clearly questioning the boards ambition. Again.

Sad to be back here again

Theres an element though of him stinging after a bad result as well i think.

Prior to the game he messaging was much more upbeat about the work going on and expected strengthening.

We have had a bad one so hes gone a bit tetchy.

If we were in the Strachan era for example when it was blatantly obvious we had to cut the wage budget and completely rebuild, I’d be the first to disagree with Rodgers.

We’re in the best financial position we’ll likely ever be in, and we’re optionally gambling on a Champions League spot against Lech Poznan or whoever.

    Seen it all before.

AEK Athens, Maribor, Cluj, Ferencvaros, Malmo, and so on and so on, and multi millions down the drain, and a complete waste of the clubs’ potential down the same * drain alongside it.

Would u trust him with another 30 million given what we got last season for that money. His record on signings is not great.

No point having him in the dugout if not going to back him really

Trusty was one of our best players in the Champions League last year, Engels is a 21 year old Belgian internationalist with plenty of potential who we’d make money on if we sold.

    Idah looks rather jobby, admittedly.

How many acceptable alternatives to Idah was Rodgers presented with last season before we were forced to panic buy him for three times his market value?

Any competent footballing operation tells Norwich to beat it after they ask for what they did, and snaps up our next planned target (no laughing at the back) for the relevant market value.

Personally I wouldn't but if the board feel similar then that would be even more alarm bells as what would the point be in him continuing in the role ?

We've also appointed Tisdale who should be looking to help the recruitment team this summer

Then Ange won't be backed either. This goes beyond the football manager.

Rodgers made a boo boo with Idah. But if folk honestly believe he targeted 70% of the players he signed during his first spell I dunno what to say.

I hate how that's used as a rod to beat him. The board shafted him and so far, with £80m odd in the bank and a billionaire majority shareholder, we've spent about £4m almost into August and its happening again.

We probably spent more by this point in 1996 ffs.

If Rodgers goes by midnight tonight, none of this changes. The board don't suddenly hand Ange or any new manager £40m. There is an inherent issue with how we approach transfers. It's the same thing every year...that's not a coincidence.

ange can find a player and even if he didnt or the board didnt sanction any more signings the football would still be 100 times better any how

Good to see him openly having a dig at the board. Wish he’d done it 4 weeks ago

Think that's quite a big assumption to make.

We'd certainly go backwards in Europe again if we took his approach.

I also find it interesting that folk assume Ange "found" the likes of Jota, CCV, Starfelt, Abada etc. The Japanese players, aye, him. The rest, scouting and him giving it the nod. Same as Rodgers probably did with Nygren.

It just so happens that window in 2021 most of what we did came off. But Giakoumakis, CCV and Jota all came on the last day of the window and remember Ange has to publicly call the board out as well.

Most windows that followed were guff and you could begin to see, similar to Rodgers first spell, that the board were content for him to continue relying on the "old guard".

What’s the point in quoting the guy if you’re not going to address any of his points?

The fact Postecoglou was signing his own players out of necessity that he’d seen in Japan should have alarm bells ringing in your brain that our recruitment structure is an outdated pile of *, irrespective of who the * is in the dugout.

“Yes, it depends what your ambition is. If your ambition is to really progress and push forward, then we need to improve the squad".

It's pretty obvious the board don't have that ambition. Failing to oversee one single victory in a knockout tie in Europe in 20 years tells you that. They are happy to just stay a bawhair ahead of that shower of * across the city.

It's why Rodgers left the last time, it's why Ange left and it's why Rodgers will leave again.

I’d point the finger at the lack of a proper scouting network in that regard as well
