If Rodgers can’t see that Engels should NOT be in the starting 11 after that then he never will. The difference between the midfield and in first half and midfield in the second half was night and day.

Rodgers backed the signing of Engels at £11 million but he’s going to have to hold his hands up and admit that Engels is average at best

Got some game time in the legs which is good. 1 handboll goal and 3 screamers. We should have scored at least 5. Strange game

Won't go too overboard as others have said. Just like I don't believe we are better than Newcastle or sporting after one game.

However the 2nd half showed some usual deficiencies. And the more I see Scales, Tilio, Idah and Co knowing how much cash we have sitting in the bank and how much needs done, the more frustrating it gets.

    1st half was decent.

This isn’t reacting to that tonight as I didn’t see much of it but I am majorly concerned with our forward options in this team. Maeda is literally the only one I am probably happy to have and he has been pretty average preseason so far.

I geniunely can see us struggling to breakdown St Mirren in the league opener never mind playing someone in the CL qualifier.

We have a * of a start to the league season, this year with trips to Pittodrie and Ibrox in the first month as well as that CL qualifier. Given what we have done recruitment wise we are nowhere near it particularly in the forward areas.

    This is it.

We have dinosaurs running a prehistoric structure with all this wealth accumulated and with players that are just ahead of Hibs.

People will point out that the proof of what we're doing is working because of the money in the bank but where is our next £20m sale coming from? Maeda is worth more to us (through the middle) than we would recieve and I don't trust the club to replace him, or CCV.

We're in a massive lull having sold all our valuable assets.

We need some big players through the door. They usually cost money. Just scout better and negotiate better. It's not * hard.

Friendly or not it's the same old story. When an opposition side presses us hard and gets in our faces in our own half we simply cannot handle it and invariably go to pieces. This is not new. What are we or our supposed genius coach doing about it? Nothing as far as I can tell. Celtic should not be conceding 5 goals to anybody, friendly or not, and it's a sad indictment how a lot of fans just accept these drubbings now.

If we were getting all excited about defeating Newcastle and thinking that we are looking good then this result should bring us back down to earth with a bump. So many glaring deficiencies all over the place and a clear warning that major upgrades are needed

Rather get our yearly pumping out the way now and avoid it in actual Europe.

Missed it live, but hopefully that'll show the board a need for more urgency in the transfer market. I won't hold my breath though.

Hasn’t played a single minute in any of the last 3 matches.

Not a chance he’s our third choice striker now.

CCV needs gametime before the season starting, we all know and really hope we manage Tierney’s gametime correctly, he was injured as recently as the last Scotland game.

For that game? Aye, defence being changed didn’t exactly have a positive effect on the result, but it’s not the wrong decision that, it was a friendly. It’s a sore yin still but the point of these games are for getting players fit in preparation for the season starting and the year ahead. Right decisions for that.
