Folk stuck the boot in the first time he missed a sitter. Not his fault but the price we paid means he's always going to be under more scrutiny. For what it's worth I don't think we'll ever view Idah as a 'superstar', but folk calling him * aren't engaging their brain. He had a decent season and a decent loan spell. Let's see how he does this coming season.

Giakoumakis is so overrated for his time here. Couldn't buy a goal against Rangers and missed plenty of sitters himself. Idah is well clear of Giakoumakis and Oh.

Plus, Giakoumakis was years older, while Idah arrived several years younger.

I think hes gonna frustrate fans same way Samaras did.

On CL nights, likely an unplayable maestro.

Most other nights is equal parts unstoppable and bambi on ice

I'd argue that thinking Idah is remotely good enough is brainless but there you go.

Idah is a step above Oh, I'll give you that, but to me Giak was a level above Idah. Scored more for us with fewer starts and has kept a good scoring record in the MLS as well. However, I take your point about the age difference.

You've got to admit that this year is make or break for Idah at Celtic though. Irrespective of £9m, he's got this season and if he doesn't make the grade, they'll just flog him for what they can get. You can point at the fans or service or age, but at a certain point, if you're a striker and the ball's not hitting the back of the net often enough, you're out on your *.

I was never a big fan of Giakoumakis. But I’d take him every single time over Idah. At least he put himself about.

There's no sensible argument for Giakoumakis being a level above Idah. Giakoumakis was much closer to his peak as a player when he was here but he fits in to the 'did a decent job' category. Ability wise Idah is already better.

Yeah if Idah has a bad season he'll be up for the scrap heap, same as any player. He'll be looking to improve on his decent tally of 20 goals from last season as a starting point.

We played Maeda through the middle for the latter part of the season because Idah couldn't be relied upon..

A Celtic number 9 has always been more than just goals.. Idah has been haphazard with his goal return and every other part of his game needs massive improvement.. hold up play is poor, touch poor, linking poor.. he does make intelligent runs but he should be dominating much more physically too..

Needs big improvement too prove us wrong but it's looking like a really poor signing.. hope he does shut us up

When Kyogo was sold , Idah had just had a 15 game goal drought , he was given 4 or 5 starts in a row against cannon fodder at home and barely even got a shot on target , Maeda had to go up top.

You're calling 3/4 of this forum dumb then :giggle1:.

He's a backup at best. Nowhere near good enough to be starting games for Celtic.

Easily. Giakoumakis couldn't do what Idah has done in some big games.

No, just you. He's already proven he's good enough to play for us.

Its definitely not "easily" is it.....Giakoumakis has a better touch, holds the ball up better , has better movement , and has a better goalscoring record than Idah.

    Lol.
That’s about the only one I’ll give you.
    Not a chance.
Idah has more goals for Celtic than Giakoumakis, and has scored in a cup final, against Rangers including at Ibrox, in the Champions League. Giakoumakis is wildly overrated by some.

You think Idah has a better touch than Giakoumakis ? .....

Giokoumakis scored 17 in 28 in his only full season here , a better strike rate than Idah last season.
26 in 29 in Eredivisie the year before .

Saying a striker is better than Adam Idah isn't "wildly over rating" him. He wasn't amazing but he was a good striker and better than Idah.

Giakoumakis and Idah are both players who could do with a better touch, imo.

I don’t care about his goals in Holland tbh, Idah has more Celtic goals and more important Celtic goals too. Giakoumakis had the luxury of playing in a system that created much more chances for him than our system last season.

I just mean that Giakoumakis is overrated in general. He did a job but there’s a reason the club wouldn’t meet his wage demands.

Not going to agree are we mate :56:

He is probably over rated in general ....I liked him but we have had prime Kyogo, Dembele , Edouard and a really effective Griffiths in recent history so I think we need to aim to get back to those levels up top.

He’s so underrated I think by a few on here with selective memories. Giakoumakis got 3x starts against the huns and we won all 3, 3-0 4-0 and 2-1 with him bullying their defence and being a key part of it. Majority agreed as well that he should of started far more games ahead of Kyogo.

Having a laugh man Idah isn't even close to his level overall, sure Idah can get score some big goals as well but he very rarely dominates a defence or links up play never mind his * movement in the box. Fully agree he’s younger but he’s severly lacking in all areas plus Giakomakous was doing it before he came to Celtic and after.
