Managers being given control of the transfer business is pretty much extinct now unless you want a disaster.

Fan opinion aside for a moment

If the board don’t trust Rodgers in the transfer market, why bring him back?

They fell out first time around because they didn’t back him.

I don’t disagree that Rodgers is very hit and miss in the transfer window (probably more miss) but there seems to be zero alignment between him and the board on transfers.

The impact of that is we end up with a bloated squad of players that Rodgers won’t play. We seen it already with Nawrocki and Lagerbielke as prime examples.

Im all for having a DoF dictating the overall philosophy, recruitment and so on but if there’s no alignment between them, the board and the very person who picks the team then it’s fundamentally broken.

And the board are to blame for that.

We need get a right winger in asap.
We knew kyogo was going and no plan in place.
We knew Kuhn was leaving months ago and no plan in place.
That club gambling with 40 million champion league money here
No way we can start champion league qualifier with Forrest as main man

We need to punt one of Trusty or Scales imo. I'm more inclined to believe BR favours the latter. I do too, even though ideally we'd replace both.

I don't think Trusty has the bottle or mentality long term to be a success here. He's quicker than Scales but just as bad on the ball if not worse. There's not much separating them in terms of overall quality.

Trusty has had some good performances in Europe but so has Scales.

Agreed on the wingers, we need at least two of real quality.

CM/CDM is another priority as well. Nygren finally offers something different but there's still a lack of steel and power in there.

I'd still rather Trusty. Just feel he has a slightly higher ceiling if playing well.

Regardless, another CB of quality is needed.

Agree with all of that but for some reason I don't think we will sign a CM ...should be a priority but Brendan is on record for saying wingers, forwards and CB this summer and we havent even been linked with CDM.

If we get in a much needed upgrade, I could see Scales being a Ralston type - very clearly a backup, but one who’s no fuss and is capable of coming in and doing a job despite not playing much.

Whereas I reckon Trusty would be inclined to seek a move if he was sitting on the bench with no real prospect of playing regularly outside of an injury.
