While Rogers hasn't extended his contract and I'm one of the boards critics' most time I don't expect them to bring in players at £7 million plus players if Rogers is going at the end of the season .
I would have rather the board had said to Rogers a month ago if your not extending your contract then go now and pay him off as this uncertainty isn't helping the club .

I don’t get why Board not bring in 7 plus players even if Rodgers is leaving.
They giving new manager decent players to work it when Rodgers goes

Our board are petrified of losing a penny.

They see money spent as money lost.

I can see them holding back on BR if he's not committing. I dont know why we would do that but its how we operate.

Worse case scenario when you spend money is you get maybe half your cash back these days. We almost switch off to the idea that big money spent could be big money back.

People go on about Engels but we would easily make our money back on him if he went tomorrow.

New manager could play different formation and tactics and maybe wouldn't suit the new managers way of playing.

It’s not even just about what we would make for him if we sold him. That’s always the way a lot of our support look at it, but you have to look at his contribution also, and the fact is, he was an important player for us in the CL where we made a fortune. It’s the same with Trusty by the way. He was MOTM in Atalanta and Zagreb where we kept a clean sheet in both games and the points in them were crucial for qualifying for the knockouts.

Dont think the board would have gone to rehire Rodgers in the first place if they wanted a cheap, yes man that would be happy to watch them pinch pennies and shill to the fans.

I actually think the above is a good argument for selling Trusty this summer. If we do the wait and see and Rodgers leaves him back up to Scales any value he has is gone.

Palma staying last summer is another good example of that playing out.

There was a 6-8 week period he was our best player by a mile. He will improve again but like I said before he's not money lost. Far from it

If Yang is worth £6-8m in some of our fans eyes then Engels is worth £60m.

  10. Now now let's be realistic here... we'll sell Engles after he bags 50 goal involvements this season for £30 mill with a 15% sell on fee and the he'll go for £100mill to Man Utd with 24 months of that move

50 goal involvements for a bloke who Rodgers stated doesn't and won't score goals would be some going.

  12. Funny that, he scored 10 season just finished.

Better take him off penalties if he won't score goals either as well.

Where and when did Rodgers say that?

Considering how he's lambasted, it wasn't a bad debut season and there's scope for him to kick on.

No I agree with you he will kick on .
BR was asked about his lack of goals from open play and he basically said he's not a big goalscorer and he wasn't brought here to score goals. Was during the split/near the end of the season .

I find myself genuinely wondering if we went and got Rodgers because the way Ange left bruised DD's ego.

Our reluctance to get players in early, bedded in and ready for CL qualifying is beyond frustrating.
Listened to all the rational mindsets on here and while there is obviously merit to them it doesn't do nothing to prevent the very real likelihood of going into the opening league games wih guys like Yang on the bench. Our squad depth is utterly scandalous. Our wide options are dire. Our striker options are arguably worse imo. Gave up my season ticket for this season and there was a wee voice in my head saying this was the season we'd be different in the market. Seems that is not going to be the case.
    Just unbelievably frustrating

The depressing fact is, after about 6-7 weeks of the TW being open, that both our starting 11 and squad as a whole are weaker than when last season ended. I see no evidence whatsoever that suggests we have a transfer strategy that will bring in the level of player required to improve this Celtic side and make us more competitive in Europe.
