Oh on my local patch today I was very pleased to see a fly over male Goshawk and the local male Peregrine was heard calling and seen patrolling quite high up.
Also on the local farm pond I disturbed by accident one of the 2 Terrapins , it swiftly jumped back in to the water.
14 species of Butterfly were seen on this outing.

  8. Great shot there Stevie, not the easiest shot to take if the boats rockin and rollin.

  9. The boat was fairly steady… it’s just the focusing at such a distance and focal length magnifies all the usual factors to the same degree… The amount of air that you are looking through at such distances is the thing I find really starts to kick in…. Even with clear arctic air you have atmospheric effects causing issues.

This one was at a similar distance .. 600 metres or so...

    Original shot and cropped image.

Arctic Fox foraging on beach. Still between winter and summer colours.

  10. Saw this in my garden this morning. It's a Magpie moth. I know I hate them but thought I'd show all of you what I saw

  11. Great pic there John, don’t think I’ve ever seen one of those before.:50:

  12. I never seen one either Johnie, but that'll not be too much of a surprise if you know me and my phobia. I was watering the plants and the vivid white caught my eye instantly. I was shaking like a leaf taking the picture, but managed to get it very quickly. Considering how much I was shaking, the picture turned out not too bad

  15. I quite like your proper big moths like that…

It’s those wee brown buggers that get in the house and can’t fly in a straight line for 6 inches….

    Horrible wee clothes munching *.

    Mon the bats!

  18. Another from the far north….

Came within about 150 metres out of pure curiosity…

    Really interesting creatures.
