Think Frame picked up an injury as well, had a thigh strain from that CL appearance and ended up out for a few months afterwards. Not entirely sure of the injury.

Saying that, I definitely agree with what you’re saying.

Did McCardle pick up an injury? I’ve been hammering Rodgers for him after Aberdeen and impressing, next game GT went into midfield Schlupp coming on - two guys who were leaving and first time tried Taylor midfield.

If McCardle was unavailable I’ve been wrong and extremely harsh. I done the same with Frame only recently found out he got injured

Nawrocki was largely unavailable first season due to injuries, and Scales was by far our best CB that season. No surprise he stuck by him.

Last season, Nawrocki was very good anytime he came in.

But the first season Rodgers was back? Scales was the only guy that kept fit for any length of time. And the options that did come in when fit were shocking. Welsh was about the best, then was out injured afterwards as well. Was a mad year, Scales had CCV, Lagerbielke, Welsh, Nawrocki, Nat Phillips, * Iwata next to him at various times due to availability or shocking performances next to him.

Rocki had an all time shocker vs Aberdeen that season and think Rodgers wrote him off from then on

Agree that Rodgers has shown loyalty to Scales for his robustness 100%. Why has everyone rewrote that Nawrocki performance as awful, he defended awfully for the goal by showing Miovski in on his left foot that was it. He’s been good otherwise imo.

Respectfully, I think you are re-writing the past through Brendan coloured glasses.
He missed only 7 games with a hamstring injury 23/24 (ref transfermarkt stats)
If you look at our defender performances generally without picking out individual errors that support any narrative (even CCV has had few pretty bad moments) it's pretty clear that Nawrocki is a better defender than Welsh, Iwata, Murray, Lagerbielke and the Scales of last season and also arguably as good as Trusty. Welsh especially playing so regularly was insane for me.

The challenge for Nawrocki I think is his passing out of defence, is he as good as Scales? Peak Scales, no but last seasons Scales - absolutely yes.

That's why I struggle with the decision, I don't see the logic here so speculated what else is an influence - is it Brendan's obsession with left/right balance and passing from back - isn't that the #6 job? But generally I thought his passing was crisp and positive, perhaps lacking mobility to turn under pressure.

Or is Nawrocki (like many others during his 2 spells) not a Rodgers signing and he never had a chance - ref million wingers first stint, Ange inspired project Asian signings 2nd time around.

Either which way, good luck to the lad - but I think we might regret letting Nawrocki go.

Yeah mcardle is the worst one. Looking back now wonder if that was Rodgers trying to show Taylor he could accomadate him in a team where the left back spot is taken?

I also forgot Francis Turley who looked very promising and Jude Bonnar who looked promising, athletic and tall in his 1 appearance too

I think what probably doesnt help the young guys is that managers coming here now are probably not in it for the long haul. They will view it as a maybe a 3 year gig and hope to move to a stronger league. So the emphasis on developing youth isnt strong as they prob dont intend on being here to see it bear fruit.

Last year we had the league won at the half way mark and still barely played any young guys. Kenny got some game time bit think that was as much fown to lack of options.

He’s for the off definently the players he doesn’t like getting put on loan rather than sold so next manager can take a look at them

Think that’s a leap? Is it not the clubs they’ve gone to don’t have enough faith in them to buy?

The Nawrocki deal has an option to buy. Lagerbielke being sold. Welsh will be sold. Kwon will be sold.

    Who are you talking about?

Rodgers has a year remaining on his Celtic contract. When asked if talks will be held with Dermot Desmond during his stay in Ireland, the manager insisted that there’s no rush to reach an agreement.

I know Dermot's coming to the game. He's so happy to be back here in Cork. I think his father was born here, and his grandfather, so he's got a real history of being here.

“But I think our focus at the moment purely is just getting us ready for the season. We're all doing that, and there's plenty of time for that.”

I can't see him hanging around.

Like others have said our transfer business this summer will tell the full story.

If rodgers pushed hard for idah and trusty its a little bit strange as the both pretty much ended up as 2nd choice even when kyogo was sold and trustys competetion was scales

I think that he just doesn't get that a major part of our signing policy, is to buy projects develop them, then sell for a decent fee.

Not every project will work out, but I worry that under BR none will.

As I see it, it's an aspect of our player trading that he had benefited from, but has done little in either stint to contribute to.

I think he gets it but wants to push the level of project we are buying. Instead of 1-3m players, 6-12m bracket. But the board aren't convinced.

The board may feel they got their fingers burned last summer 26m on Idah, Engels, Trusty , 3 in the latter bracket you mentioned.
