That's interesting. From his loan spells it doesn't seem like he's been that successful.

Did Maeda actually say he wants a fair shot at being first choice striker, or was that one of those reports without quotes?

Same, then I looked at him and was disappointed not to see a wavy long haired adonis with a (optional) hairband

Wonder if Rodgers is looking at a formation shift after all. Linked to so many strikers/attackers.

Either going with two strikers occasionally, or a 4231 with this guy maybe seen as someone who can play across the 3 behind the striker.

But then where would that leave Hatate?

He’s the Tierney cover at left back.

In all seriousness he could probably play as one of the deeper 2 in games that we dominate or as the 10 as well.

I still think the most likely outcome is Hatate moves on later in this window.

    Celtic
target Giuseppe Ambrosino could be leaning towards a move to Glasgow, with enquiries from the Scottish champions turning the head of the young Napoli striker.

There is also strong interest in the Italy under-21 forward – who spent last season on loan with Frosinone – from Italian outfit Cagliari, but Celtic’s bid to land him on a loan deal with an option to buy has piqued the interest of the 21-year-old.

That is the view of Italian journalist Stefano Sorce of DerbyDerbyDerby, who has likened Ambrosino to Spanish international striker Alvaro Morato due to his clean technical ability and willingness to drop off to link with his teammates

“In terms of playing style and characteristics, Álvaro Morata would be a good comparison — especially the younger version of Morata during his early Juventus or Real Madrid days,” Sorce said.

“He is not a pure poacher. Instead, he likes to drop deep, link up with midfielders, and create space for teammates.

“He is tall, around 1.9m, but he is still agile and mobile. He uses both feet well, has a decent burst of pace, and is technically clean.

He’s also dangerous in open play and on set pieces, and has good ball-shielding ability.

“Another good comparison would be with fellow Italian Giacomo Raspadori, who he shares some traits with, though he has a bit more physical presence and is slightly less explosive than his Napoli teammate.

“Ambrosino has already given his approval for a transfer to Cagliari, showing a clear preference for the Rossoblù club. However, recent interest from Celtic could change the scenario and might make him lean toward the Scottish club instead.”

Some of Ambrosino’s other key qualities are sure to excite the Celtic support, and Sorce believes that if he should come to Glasgow, he will do so with a point to prove.

Having represented Italy at various youth levels, Ambrosino is looking to show that he can be a future striker for the Azzuri at full international level, and he sees this campaign as a crucial one in that regard.

“Ambrosino has represented Italy at several youth levels, including U19, U20, and U21,” he said.

“He contributed to Italy winning the U20 Elite League and scored at the U20 World Cup in Argentina, where Italy finished second.

“While it is probably still early for him to break into the senior national team, this upcoming season will be very important for his development and future chances.

“He is known for his technique and vision. Ambrosino is a technically skilled player with good first touch and game awareness, enabling him to be actively involved in offensive plays.

“He is also an excellent free-kick taker with a powerful and precise shot, while he effectively uses both feet, making him unpredictable for defenders.

“Despite his height, he is also agile and is good at shielding the ball.”

Boy sounds ideal, would be happy to bring him on board.

Seeing a lot of comments about the level of player we're being linked with....I think we're spot on with it myself. Maybe taking a risk banking on Idah stepping up this season as the main man but the fact Daizen is also in the mix negates that massively.

Idah, Osmond and Ambrosino could be excellent options if things go to plan, with Daizen there aswell. You then consider the possibility of going 4-2-3-1 and quickly see the benefits of having multiple options to cover all 4 forward positions.

Am I missing something here. We play 1 on top and currently have 4 forwards on the books in Maeda, Idah, Kenny and Osmond?

Linked with this guy and the lad from Japan :39:

I don't think he'd be brought in solely as a striker, he looks versatile and doesn't really look like a striker in the videos.

I think hes being brought in as a versatile option up top, maybe primarily for the left until Jota is fit again.

I also dont think it'd be this guy and the Japanese boy, it'd be either or. Kenny will 100% be sold too.

Low shooting and finishing stats. Kinda pointing to him being a no10 tbh.

Seems a bit pointless considering we have just signed Osmond and this guys stats look pretty poor

I think Rodgers will still fancy Idah to become the number 1 striker through time but I would rather we went out and got someone with a bit more experience

Saw him score a banger of a free kick the last kick off the ball at the under 21's to take it to Extra time

Would there be an option to have him as a attacking winger coming inside maybe

Also iam sure his dad is Massimo who would've experienced the stadium at imo it's height of its atmosphere 20 odd year ago
