    Nah I disagree.

It's not comparable to most of the other failures up top. If we'd paid £4m and got 20 goals out of him considering the amount of games he'd started I'd be delighted with that as a first season and can guarantee there would be chat of how much beyond £10m or so we could get for him.

You know i think he's a good player, may see a better side of him this season. Need a big guy up front and he gets the club. Some of the abuse he often gets (especially on X about his lack of 'irishness') is disgraceful.

I wouldn’t write him off yet. Look Maeda first year and half. His finishing was * and diddnt score many.
This season he has been good.
I would give idah another season to see if he can man up and be striker we know he can be.
I feel like we don’t use him properly and play to his strength.
That villa away game was example how useful he could be with right set up to suit his game

Hopefully Idah being there from day 1 of pre-season this year will help him take another step forward next season.

Praying the big man puts his heart and soul into pre season training and finds a ruthless mindset. The talent and attributes he has are genuine top class, if he can bring that to the fore next season he'll be massive for us.

The problem he has is he won't be the first choice striker, no doubt he'll score goals over the course of a season he's already shown that.

Has the raw attributes, it's his mentality for me

When Maeda doesn't score he's still a massive contributor to our overall play on and off the ball, Idah looks like he can't be arsed half the time, there's no comparison.

Reckon there's a player there but, first up, he needs to bulk up, way too flakey physically for the size of him.
If he was to get with a strength and conditioning coach, bulk up in pre season, then he could hit the ground running with a good pre season under his belt.

    I agree.

He needs to add a bit of 'bastardness' to his game. All too often looks a bit too unbothered.

For me, a "raw attribute" is the ability to control a ball......

Think he's a perfect 2nd choice striker for us tbh. Just wouldn't feel comfortable with him being 1st choice.
He's scored some huge goals for us I think it would be incredibly harsh to move him on yet

Just needs to get the feckin finger oot
he has a huge opportunity and the attributes to be a hero here - don't blow it by putting in 90% then in 6 years time be talking about regrets to the Daily Record when playing lower reaches of championship.

Cmon big man, get it sorted.

Has natural strength, power, pace.. his instinctive finishing is good. It's other bits where he looks a bit lost.

Incredibly generous summation of his attributes...if he has those attributes he certainly hasn't used them in a Celtic shirt or a ROI one even for that matter. Strength and pace ? Guy has shown none of that here he doesn't use his build or height effectively at all.

TBF, he is fast for a guy his size. His runs into channels seem like those much smaller forwards tend to do.

He has those natural abilities, I'm not saying he'd have used them often. I personally wouldn't have bought him, I think the Aberdeen performance in the cup semi last year was more indicative of where he was at than how he was actually perceived last summer..

“X” is nothing more than engagement farming toxicity these days. Dunno why anyone still bothers with it.

REPUBLIC of Ireland and Celtic striker Adam Idah says he is “not a robot” and that players should be allowed to enjoy a night out after a video was circulated on social media of him appearing to throw up in a taxi in April.

Speaking ahead of Ireland’s friendly double header with Senegal and Luxembourg, the 24-year-old ace defended his right to enjoy a day off with his friends.

At the time, Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers rowed in behind his striker, saying: “The sad thing for me is that a 24-year-old football player, who in his spare time, can’t let his hair down without someone trying to film him.”

With Idah hoping to earn a starting slot in Heimir Hallgrimsson’s team at home to Senegal on Friday night, it was the first time the player had the opportunity to address the issue.

“I was on a night out, I had a day off,” Idah explained.

We had a game on the Sunday and I was off on the Thursday. There were no major problems with it. The manager spoke about it really well.

“I’m a human being. I’m allowed to enjoy a night out. I’m not a robot where I have to stay in all the time.

“It’s hard when people are videoing you and it can be quite upsetting, especially when the story is made into something it’s not. Like I said, I’m human and I’m going to carry on what I’m doing.”

Idah scored 20 goals for Celtic last season as they retained the Scottish Premier League title and the League Cup but just missed out on a domestic treble with Aberdeen winning the Scottish Cup on penalties against the Hoops.

The Cork native, who moved to Celtic from Norwich City in February 2024, has embraced the pressure that comes with playing for the Scottish giants.

“When you go to a big club it can be tough,” he said.

“The pressure there is a lot but it’s a case of you know what you’re good at.

“If you don’t score in a couple of games, I’m not going to give up just because of what an ex-pro says. I’m not really concerned what he thinks.

“If I don’t score in a couple of games, it’s about staying focused. There is a lot of pressure at the club. It’s good. Every player wants to be at a big club and what comes with the big clubs is the pressure.”

A rare mistake from goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel in last month’s Scottish Cup final allowed Aberdeen to equalise and go on to win on penalties.

“It was a disappointing end to the season,” Idah said, “but we came away with two trophies. Personally, it was brilliant.

“I scored 20 goals and I scored the winning goal in the last [international] camp [against Bulgaria], so I’m feeling really good for these two games.”

Idah was annoyed he didn’t start in Ireland’s last outing against Bulgaria but came on to tap home the winner at the Aviva Stadium, recording his fifth goal of his senior international career.

Idah is competing with Evan Ferguson and Troy Parrott for a place in the Irish team across the upcoming two games.

“Whatever the manager chooses works for us,” insisted Idah.

“It’s all friendly competition between us, we all get on brilliant. The three of us are different strikers too which is good to have.

“Regardless of who starts, we’ve got fresh legs coming off the bench and the three of us seem to be doing really well. Hopefully it’s a good position for the manager to have.”

He added: “I want to qualify for tournaments – and that’s the manager’s decision, whether that’s me starting or coming off the bench.

“I want to help the team. The bigger picture is I want to qualify for the World Cup. You want to a part of that.

Ireland’s 2026 World Cup qualification campaign gets underway on September 6 at home to Hungary before facing Armenia and Portugal.

The Irish haven’t qualified for a major tournament since Martin O’Neill guided them to Euro 2016 in France.

“These last couple of games [two wins against Bulgaria] have been brilliant for us to change that mentality and to have that winning attitude,” said the Celtic striker.

“Some of us have been together for the last four or five years and hopefully we can have that mentality of coming into camp and trying to win every game. We’ve two good games coming up and they’ll be two good tests ahead of September.”

With Maeda probably needing to play on the wing because.of Jota's injury, we need a new first team striker in, in my opinion. Which then soon makes Idah 3rd pick as I would prefer both a new striker and Maeda in front of him.

He scored some amount of goals and I'm not sure if he'd be happy as third striker. As you I just don't see him as good enough to be our main striker. Will be hard for him to improve too, if he doesn't get constant game time. That's why I'm unsure about his future at the club. We should have that talk with him and if he isn't ok with his role try to sell him. He had a good season after all.
