The worst thing he did was try and pull out of it, made worse.. natural instinct I guess, especially in a nothing game..

In general as team tho, we seem to pull out of 50/50s regularly, has been a common theme v the Huns at times too, too often for my liking.

Was thinking that as well. If he'd have even slid and just gone through the challenge a bit, not studs up, just though the ball and the player, he doesn't get injured.

I think it was because the ref had already blown for a foul on Forrest. Think Hatate had stopped playing.

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has issued an injury update on the condition of midfielder Reo Hatate, confirming that the Japan international has played his last game of the season due to injury.

The 27-year-old midfielder was forced off the pitch late on in proceedings at Pittodrie, following a strong challenge by Aberdeen striker Pape Habib Gueye, one that angered his manager

In his pre-match press conference, Rodgers confirmed the news many Celtic supporters were fearing. “Reo (Hatate) is out,” said the manager to the media.

“He will miss the last two games (of the season), sadly for him, and for us. He has had a fantastic season in terms of availability – he has been involved in 55 games this season. It is just such a shame that he will miss the last couple of games.

“He will probably be okay for the beginning of pre-season, but it is just a shame for us and even more so for him that he misses these last two games."

As his manager alluded to, Hatate has made 55 appearances for Celtic this season, scoring 11 goals and assisting a further nine in all competitions.

The midfielder signed for Celtic back in 2021 under previous manager Ange Postecoglou, making his debut against Hibernian in a Man of the Match display alongside fellow debutant Daizen Maeda.

So far in his Celtic career, Hatate has made 142 appearances for the Scottish champions, scoring 27 times and assisting a further 28 goals. He has won eight trophies during his time at the club, including four Scottish Premiership titles, two Scottish Cups and two League Cups.

He will be hoping his teammates can grant him a ninth honour next weekend at Hampden in his absence versus Aberdeen.

Sad news. The intent from that * Gueye was clear and obvious as was the case with other sheep * players. Injure and rule our players out of the cup final. I hope we hammer them next week. No mercy.

Such a needless, pointless and verging on reckless challenge...only one intent if you ask me.

Might be a good thing regarding the transfer. He has looked a lot happier recently, and for me, he has been our best midfielder this season.

Well the one upside is that it is not a long term one like Jota. So the fact he probably will be there from day 1 for pre-season that at least is a big positive. An absolute disgrace that he is missing out on these last 2 games and especially the cup final due to the outright thuggery of Gueye.

A real shame , that hammer throwing * knew what he was doing . I hope we put 5 or 6 past them . At least we are fairly strong in the midfield, still a blow though .

That's a pretty mealy-mouthed response for me. I wasn't expecting him to start ranting and raving but he should have called-out Aberdeen's thug tactics and the conduct of that Gueye in particular. He should also have pointed-out that behaviour like that can only continue(as it did from the first until the last minute) if the officials aren't doing their jobs properly, which was indeed the case. From the boardroom to the dug-out to the playing field we are weak as water and far too nice.

*. How that clown never even got a second yellow for that I'll never know. On his day he is our best midfielder so even more reasom to strengthen in that area in the summer.

Gutted for him. It was a poor tackle, but why Rodgers felt the need to bring him on at that stage, all things considered, is questionable.
