Well if I can convince 2 or 3 people to actually sing at parkhead , i'll see that as progress. :50:

But in that case, Fields of Athenrye, Let the People Sing etc. are not Celtic songs.. should we stop singing them?..

These 'Celtic' songs wouldn't make a better atmosphere. As the people who sing and try too create an atmopshere already do at CP, no matter what the song! Infact it could create less of an atmopshere if people were against these songs and did not sing.

I moved to 445 where the jungle bhoys are coz thats where all the atmosphere is. Plenty of singing but no sectarianism.

Move to ther dude and u wont be disappointed, or if u dont want to move, just get up and sing :celt_2:

Yeah fair enough the atmostphere at Celtic park is awful but I think it just makes us look bad to be singing those sort of songs at away games....at any game for that matter.

I also used to stand in the middle of the jungle when I was a teen singing every rebel song under the sun, I grew up and learned that songs like that aren't suited to a game of football.

The main problem is getting people to sing, and when they do it should be football songs, celtic songs, not rebel numbers.

Both are related to Celtics heritage and are upliffting, so I would argue they ARE Celtic songs

Define Celtic songs, because like I've said, the fields of athenrye and let the people sing etc. are not Celtic songs. Do you think we should still sing them?

But if that was the case, you could argue that some of the more 'hardcore' songs would be related to Celtic's heritage aswell.
LTPS is about speaking out when oppressed and the Fields of Athenrye is a song about rebelling against Britain...

People like to say that these songs are bout the old struggle so they are ok to sing. Does this mean songs about the provos will be ok to sing at Celtic park in 100 years time?

Said....the people who sing rebel songs are only giving the Huns more justification to spout their hatred.

Rebel sons have no place at ANY Celtic game, period!

They will probably offend alot of people, maybe not here at home but away games down south for instance I think they will possibly offend quiet a few people.

I don't see how IRA songs and football mix.

We have some wonderful football songs that supporters of other teams would be envious of. they are what should be sung at CP.
I love all and any rebel songs but play them in the privacy of my own house. as they do not suit everyones taste and can offend other peoples nationality, creed etc they should not even be sung in a foreign country.
I done it myself in the 50s & 60s but you learn with age it is all just about bravado.

Fields of Athenrye is about the potato famine which forced irish immigrants to cross the water. Celtic were formed to help those immigrants in the east end. Its a 'hairs on the back of the neck' song and should never be phased out.

LTPS admittedly is a bit more controversial but we need to remember what these people, who are tied to our history, went through.

I'll happily sing them both. :50:

Notice that the version of LTPS they paly at parkhead has been censored , which is totally ironic.

apart from the Falkirk game, when was the last time we scored 3 goals at home? The crowd react to how the team if performing, the team performed well in the first 15 minutes so the crowd is bound to be bouncing.

Look that was an example, they could offend anyone anywhere at all.

Why is it always at away games they get song and never at home? because it isn't allowed and quite rightly so.

Like ARMALITE said, I also have no problem with the songs or the listening to them, I just don't think they should be sung at football matches.
