My beloved Boxer Ruby Roo lost her battle with cancer on Tuesday. She was so brave and full of love right at the end. We have walked thousands of miles together seeing countless quality wildlife and had endless fun.

Today I did one of our favourite walks near our home and I saw 2 Red Kite, got great views , i think she sent them:49:. I also had my first Chiffchaff of the year singing away.

I will always be Ruby's Dadda. Ruby Roo her nick name of course, so full of love and cheek, her soul will be with me forever:49:

I saw the local pair of Red Kite late this morning, I think they may have a nest nearby:49: Also a handsome Shelduck was busy checking the local pond for a possible nesting location. The local corvids were going crazy whenever the Red Kites approached their next sites. Except for the local pair of Ravens, they were not bothered of course.

Oh on Wednesday when I did a seafront walk for Ruby Roo I saw my first Purple Sandpiper for a wee while resting with 16 Turnstones at high tide. A loan Common Scoter also flew past close by.

Next week I should be up on the moors and hills, so I look forward to my report from there.

Thanks folks, gid wee community here . So sorry to read about Ruby Cider could tell you loved that dog !
No photos but a few days ago I scattered the remnants of a porridge bag under a tree in the garden . Later I was making a tea and looked out the window ... there were 7 Wood Pigeons pecking away at the ground , never saw that many together at one time .

On my local patch this morning i was delighted to see one of the local Green Woodpeckers busy calling in local woods. As the crow flies barely 700 metres from my house.

A few from Kellystown last week, with the weather being so settled for this time of year and having time on my hands, I've been able to get out and about quite a lot these days, my old knees are coming back to themselves again also after a couple of gell injections so can go wandering a bit more, these are a few from Kellystown on a sunny but bitterly cold but enjoyable morning.

Yesterday while a good mate's house he was totally delighted when I showed him the local pair of Red Kites from his conservatory, he could not wait to tell his wife when she was getting back from work. The Red Kites really put on a stunning show and there is a real chance they may breed.

I watched as two pairs of Shelduck had a territorial spat.
