Very poor game. Culpable at the 3rd goal, along with AJ. Showed no leadership and continual sideways passing and back to AJ sucked any momentum that we may have had.

That 3rd goal man, absolutely pathetic attempt fae him. Needs a massive volley up the * because his standards have dropped big time. Shocking performance.

I love him and always have but I have doubts about whether he steps up to the next level.

I'm not convinced that he leaves here and goes to a 'big' club. E.g. Bayer Leverkusen linked. Not sure be is big and athletic enough for that kinda team when you compare him against the CBs they have currently.

He may be. But on this seasons evidence not convinced, I don't think he's been near the same level consistently. In Europe, Trusty has been more dependable, pardon the pun.

I think its absolutely crazy to question his athleticism or ability. It genuinely baffles me how people are suddenly having doubts over the best CB we've had in decades ability to step up. He's strong as an ox and bullies most forwards. He's no slouch either.

He was a rock against Bayern literally last month. Injuries are the only thing holding him back. Might not be a big club bit he can play at a higher level absolutely no doubt about it.

Reminds me of "Van Dijk will get found out in England" shouts.

I don't think he's that athletic tbh. Strength isn't in doubt.

He's been my favourite player pretty much for the past 3 years. But he's not been as good this season, certainly not as consistent, and has consistently injury issues too.

I didn't say he couldn't play at a higher level either so you're twisting my words.

I said I couldn't see him going to a top club.

This is literally the first time I can recall criticising him so I'm not doing it for no reason.

Obviously CCV didn't have his usual dominant game against the zombies last weekend but for me he has been below par for much of the season as well and I really have to wonder if he is truly 100% match fit or if he has been playing much of the season basically carrying and trying to manage the toe injury he got early on.

You said step up to the next level, that can be construed as moving to a better league, which he's more than capable of. I also think a team like Leverkusen could do alot worse than CCV.

He has a stocky build but I think he is athletic, surely that strength he has is under the athleticism umbrella?

In any case my post wasn't totally directed at you, I've seen a lot of people begin to doubt him.

He’s quite quick as well, and turns quick. Athletic is definitely a good description for him IMO.

I think a lot of it is the way he's instructed to play rather than his ability. Sometimes the two touch then pass appears to make him look cumbersome, can't usually fault his defending on a whole though. Strong and sturdy brute injured toe or not, usually reliable.

I then said I'm not convinced he moves to a top club. That's what I meant by next level. I don't have doubts he could play for a Leeds or something in the EPL.

Athleticism for me is more than just strength. He's quite squat and stocky, that doesn't spring to mind when I think of athletic.

I don't thjnk it's mental to suggest thar he hasn't been his usual self throughout this season. I'd probably agree with people presuming he is carrying an injury in his foot, again.

I think in general this season defensively we have been excellent, him and Kaspar absolutely key to that. And the amount of clean sheets has hammered that point home.

I don’t see the general downturn in form all season that has been getting said from Sunday. He’s had 2 games in close proximity that he looked * rattled but. Ten minutes at the end Sunday, he fell apart. Rest of the game he was normal, but that last ten minutes was such a monumental capitulation for him. He had one a few weeks ago he looked very uncomfortable.

But most of the season defensively we’ve been excellent. Last month or so, maybe 6 weeks I’d say, there has been that drop though. We’ve had a lot of games Kaspar has been outstanding, whereas before the rest of this season we weren’t giving opponents the opportunity to test him and it was him being outstanding for the one chance they get.

Panama winning it with virtually the last kick of the game. Game was in the US too so a really great night for Panama. Good for them.

Not sure what went on for that goal but looked as if he got a call from AJ to leave it and then AJ slipped???
