I like the recruitment in the fact we're finally going up a level. Apart from * window 1 up and panic buying palma, weve stuck to our guns and went for pure quality. Rodgers is refusing to have his squad littered with shveds. You can't say we've not backed him either with the fees we've paid. Could we do more? Yes. However, we still work to a budget.

I would say we need to move alot faster though. That's the one big problem.

So come summer... we won't sign * all until we see where we're playing.. usual.v

Not saying he's not being backed just saying we remain unorganised and haphazard in the market.

If we take the LB situation in this window, Schlupp was last minute and had to be brought up to speed.. maybe if he was fit the 1st leg v Bayern is different. Who knows what it would have been like if we'd brought in another quality forward..

We better be going all out BEFORE our CL Qualifier to get what's required or we risk qualification and Rodgers long-term future at the club.

I agree with some things you say but, for me, Rodgers is one of our major selling points and I want him to be involved in recruitment. Jota speaks about a conversation with Rodgers before he came back again, and that's how it should be imo.

Tierney returning and Jota signing are massive for us I think and shouldn't be under estimated.

We definitely want to keep Rodgers as long as possible but I've got a concern he'll be off again if a premiership team comes on for him. Hope I'm wrong.

Aye, I've got no issue with Rodgers being involved in the final stages of a transfer, that's the way it should be..

I think if we are able to recruit successful he could sign an extension. Recruitment has to be excellent to make an impact in the CL, starting with securing qualification.

The thought of KT and Jota on the left is very exciting tho..

Brendan Rodgers has opened up on what he said to his Celtic players, in the aftermath of Tuesday's aggregate defeat to Bayern Munich in Germany.

Despite drawing with Vincent Kompany's Bundesliga league leaders, Alphonso Davies' 94th-minute goal sent the Bavarian side through to the last 16, where they will face fellow German side Bayer Leverkusen.

The Celtic manager lifted the lid on what he told his squad following their last-gasp elimination. He said: "After the game, I said to the players that it's a real sign of how we've developed - that we're sat in here at this stage of this competition against a club of this magnitude and we're really disappointed.

"But I said that to come and perform that well we must draw the positives on that. Now we look forward and we've got two titles more to play for back home and we've got a few months to go. So let's finish off on what can be an absolutely brilliant campaign for us.

"I said you can hold your head up so proud because you think of the level of the opponent and the team and what you look for in this game is respect. You'll come off the pitch and these guys will respect you for what you did over the couple of games and these guys will be challenging for maybe the Champions League itself.

So for that, again the disappointment was there naturally because of the nature of how the game ended. But no, I said to the players for us to be sat here feeling like this, it really shows how far you've come really because I looked in their eyes after the Dortmund game and that was a real tough one. So it just showed you the mentality and the resilience and the grit that this team have.

"They overcame that, recovered from the setback and then pushed on and we went back to the hotel, we had a beer and then got back to training the next day."

Celtic are back in action on Saturday, as they look to extend their lead in the Scottish Premiership to 16 points.

If they win the league this season, they will have to negotiate a qualifier at the start of the 2025/26 season due to Scotland's coefficient points ranking

Brendan Rodgers has responded to questions surrounding his future at Celtic concerning his current contract.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference for his side’s Scottish Premiership match versus Hibernian at Easter Road, the 52-year-old touched upon potentially extending his current deal, which expires next summer.

Questioned about his plans beyond the summer of 2026, Rodgers said: “To be fair we’ve not really had any conversation around that (a new contract). I think that we’ll always look at what is the very best thing for Celtic.”

“Above any individual will always be what is right for Celtic. But certainly, when I came back, domestically my record was okay and I knew to become better in Europe I needed a stronger squad. The club have been fantastic that way in terms of providing that

We’ve shown what we can do and all within the finances of the club. Hopefully, going forward we can continue to push that way so we can keep becoming a seasonal team at that level and challenging. In terms of the length of me staying here, I'm obviously very happy here.

“But it will always be what is best for Celtic. But at this moment in time, the real focus is finishing the season as strong as we can."

This is Rodgers’ second spell as Celtic manager, following a hugely successful first stint at the club between 2016 and 2019. During this time, he won two domestic trebles, as well as seven trophies in total, before leaving for Leicester City in the Premier League.

Following his exit from The Foxes, Rodgers made his triumphant return to the club after four years in England. So far, he has won three trophies, as he aims for his third treble in charge of the Scottish champions

I think it says a lot about our squad depth that he didn't use all the available subs today. Must be very frustrating for him when first team players such as those hooked at half time put in such poor performances.

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has reacted to Daizen Maeda's disallowed equaliser at Easter Road this afternoon.

The Japanese attacker thought he drew the Parkhead side level late on, only for VAR to intervene and rule that the ball was out of play in the build-up.

The Parkhead side went on to lose 2-1 as Josh Campbell's brace proved decisive

Speaking post-match, Rodgers reacted to Maeda's disallowed goal, which would've drawn his side level: "My take is that the (VAR) official Alan Muir has had a guess at it", he said (Premier Sports).

"The linesman arguably has the best view in the stadium and he doesn't give it (as out of play).

"So for that to get overturned, then I'm assuming there's an absolutely clear image of the ball being out of play.

    "So that's a huge disappointment."

After today's defeat, Celtic turn their attention to the visit of Aberdeen to Glasgow's east end on Tuesday evening.

This afternoon saw Rodgers' side suffer only their second league defeat of the season, although they will be eager to get back to winning ways when they return to play on home soil midweek.

The games keep coming thick and fast for Celtic, who will look to quickly put their loss in Leith behind them.

He is 100% correct about VAR. How can the on field decision be over turned without having the correct technology???

Remember that goal with Japan vs Spain to put Japan top in the world cup 2022? Proper technology. Looked a mile out from one angle, bird's-eye view.. shows it was actually on the line and goal counted.

We have 100% been cheated today.

Thats what I don't get, how can VAR officials make a "factual" decision from a guess from inconclusive camera angles.

They've set themselves up for a sacking.

VAR aside, this is what he means by the squad being light..

We don't have the depth in quality.
