I'm very underwhelmed by the appointment, bhoy_wonder. He's more of a coach than a manager. His time as manager of Down was poor and I thought this year's Kerry team was the worst I had seen in my lifetime. There's a reason they brought in Cian O'Neill from Galway. His backroom team is not exactly exciting either, just a really poor appointment tbh. That said, nothing against him as a person, the blame for this lies squarely with our county board.

 

What a game of hurling last night in Armagh. Fantastic advert for Ulster hurling especially as it was covered by RTÉ . Slaughtneil doing Derry proud. Doure Abú.

Apologies to all my Mayo friends on here, we left that one behind this evening.

 

Yes, I have seen several commentators highlight the second half comebacks as a great thing. Not sure why two halves of very one sided football is such a good thing.

The other issue is we still have the same clowns refereeing the games. They were bad with the old rules and they're no better with the new ones. Last night at Celtic Park we had the celebrity ref at our game. Atrocious performance. No doubt in a few months we will have another Irish Examiner piece like the one last week about the time he screwed over Mayo in last year's Connacht final.

 

That * is always biased against Ulster teams. You'll be hard pressed to find anybody in Ulster with a good word to say about him.

 

Agree totally. The 50m dissent penalty in particular plays right into his and other's hands. Facilitates a power trip. Murray was fouled in the Galway half and took a bit of a slap in the head and went down on the ball. Gave the free to Galway and the additional 50m because Murray had been knocked to the ground on top of the ball. Walsh kicked the free for a two pointer. Absolutely ridiculous. Officials were poor all game. McFaul had to point out to the linesman that Galway had left only two up front and later that a Galway player subbed hadn't actually left the field. Basic stuff. Burns would be better addressing those issues instead of showboating.

To be fair we were playing against a gale force wind in the first half so that game was always going to be a game of 2 halves. Obviously early on in the season so not going to read too much into the result but a win on the road against Kerry is a real positive.
On the new rules overall I like them. I think it has opened the game up more and made it more enjoyable to watch. Certainly there will be an adjustment period and maybe a few tweaks but overall I think they are a positive.

 

The only two halves of one sided football we'll see tomorrow evening is Derry taking the Dubs to the cleaners in both halves. Doire Abú.

 

Well I am glad to see your in such great form ahead of tomorrows game Hopefully we get treated to a good game although no idea what to expect in this one from Dublin.

 

Unfortunately, I do know what to expect from this particular Derry team although in fairness with so many long term injuries it's barely recognisable. I admire your sportsmanship and good nature but when you're rooted to the bottom of the table I don't care what type of game it is as long as we win.
