Plenty of people disagree with that notion. Kinda baffles me that people can't see how unlucky it was.

Not really for me mate. He's one on one with a rapid quick top quality player. You could argue he should never have been left one on one and that trusty didn't cover quick enough but to say Taylor cost us the goal is harsh. Put any of our defence in that situation I'm no sure they do any better.

Its the fact Olise takes it inside on his first touch for me, literally gives Taylor no time to set and then it ricochets. Extremely harsh

Strange way of looking at it. Would you have faith that Tierney could adequately deal with it that he wouldn't need to be covered by trusty?

Say trusty covered Taylor and left a gap in doing so and then the ball gets moved on again, would you then blame ccv for not cot covering trusty? In that example, who's fault would that be!?

Each player has their role to take care of, sure they all need back up from time to time but for me we don't need passengers. In Europe, Taylor needs cover more than most and hence he is a passenger

Disagree with your view of it though as well, as do many others.

The bobble is unlucky bit thats not all there is to analyse. His positioning and set up is poor and as I say don't think he's aggressive enough. Allows him to waltz in quite easily for me and he just isn't switched on enough in the first instance.

I think it's quite evident he was targeted by them for good reason.

I think the issue for me is it doesn't need to be a top level winger for Taylor to be shown up.

Seen it a few times a winger who is direct and has even an ounce of trickery and he's beat. Particularly if they also have pace.

I've said I'm happy to keep him as back up or rotation but it's just frustrating to see him being targeted again by teams. Even the difference when schlupp came on was evident.

Ive literally analysed the whole thing in another post. If he's not switched on he doesn't track the run before the ball is played. Just doesn't make sense.

Some people are saying he's not aggressive enough, others saying he was too tight.

Literally the only thing I can see that he could have done is intercept the ball in the air, so if that was possible then maybe he could have been more aggressive there. But he still got into a position to stop the ball and got unlucky. I don't think anyone can dispute that part

I totally agree with this post. I think part of my problem is that I feel AJ made a much bigger mistake yesterday and his thread is barely touched. I feel Taylors past performances are influencing people's annoyance

He was unlucky with the first goal, ricocheted off his knee then off Olisie beyond him. The more annoying thing was his him putting 3 straight passes out of play.

Feel sorry for him though cause fans were straight onto him first mistake compared to the midfield. He never hid and always tried his best so can’t blame his commitment.

That said KT is massive upgrade at this level, even Schlupp at half fit provided better protection.

Mate I'm no blaming anybody. I'm saying the boy is top quality and could easily have skinned any of our back four one on one. It just so happened it was Taylor who was unlucky that his touch didn't deflect the ball away from olise. The goal was a fantastic strike.

I don't disagree with that. I just think it's harsh blaming him for the first goal. The post I responded to claimed he cost us the goal, which I thought was pish tbh.

I think people are ignoring how bad of a * up it was keeping him onside in the first place. I’ve watched it back carefully a few times since last night and he seems to realise he’s keeping him on, takes a step towards him and then when he sees the Bayern defender is going to play the diagonal he changes his mind and starts backtracking - which means Olise stays on.

At no point does he have a look across to see where he should be in relation to the defensive line. He’s not “asleep” but his positioning and decision making in that moment were poor. Too indecisive.

He’s also too close to Olise when the ball drops to his feet, he looked uncomfortable under the flight of the ball and was never gonna get to it, so his next job was to delay Olise. There’s nothing he can do about the bounce off him when it happens but his positioning has put himself the situation in the first place. He never looked to have it under control, or like he had any composure the way a CL level defender should in a situation like that. Just looks totally panicked when questions are asked of him.

Do also think Trusty was quite slow getting across, which didn’t help. He should have known Taylor was * when isolated.

It’s not an easy situation to defend, but I think the frustration also comes from the fact we’ve all been saying for years he’s not good enough defensively at this level. It’s just too easy for teams with a decent winger to target him.

Taylor's deficiencies first came to the fore to me, that time he was left one on one with Kevin van Veen at Parkhead, who skinned him easily, and ran away from him to score. There is nothing he or we can do about his limitations unfortunately, he has no pace, height or body strength, especially against the elite of the Champions League, but even in the SPL, opposing managers are targeting the left side of our defence every week, for those very reasons. He invited Olise on to his left foot which was criminal, and he failed to mark the lethal Harry Kane, both goals can be attributed to him. He's been a very good servant to the club, speaks very well, and is hugely popular with the squad, but that is where it ends for me, because it is getting harder and harder to defend him, and quite frankly, I am not even going to try anymore. We have Schlupp there now, and Tierney is coming, and Anderson and Frame are coming through, so unless I am mistaken, Taylor's Celtic career may be winding down.

Weirdly, he's not being castrated in his thread. The second goal was a more glaring error for me. It was easy. You have to hand some credit to Bayern for the first goal. Incredible pass and finish.

Yes but we weren't zonal so that doesn't seem relevant.

Johnston losing Kane at the back post was a far bigger error than anything Taylor did against them, yet that one is being swept aside. Taylor had a decent game.

Leaving a goal scorer like Kane alone at the back post was criminal whoever's fault that was

Completely ignoring the fact he's 3 yards deeper than the rest of the backline despite being the widest player and looking along the line.

By all means analyse everything after that it you like but none of it matters if he had been in line with the rest of the back 4. That's the mistake!!

Killie game in the cup last season at rugby park. Danny Armstrong took the absolute * out of him.

Danny Armstrong is definitely not a top level winger

People have pulled Johnston up on it tbf myself included. It was an error and he did it twice.

The set piece moments aside he was excellent and very little came down his side. Was pretty good in possession as well. I think that's where the brunt of the frustrations are coming from as we've seen it before with Taylor being targeted for a reason by opposition teams. That moment for their first aside I thought his use of the ball was pretty awful.
