Another big moment for Daizen Maeda. Were you even more delighted that that appeal went through and he was able to play tonight, just based on his contribution tonight?

Yeah, he's such an important player for us.

You see that once we got the pressure on how we would want at the top end of the field, then that changes the dynamic of a game because that's how we normally play.

So yeah, he's got a feeling for goals. He's all different types of goals, like you see in that one there, just a cute little striker's header in the six-yard box. I was so happy that he was available for us.

 

Cannot think of any player in the world who can do what he does.

Will be impossible to replace if he’s not kicking up a fuss to go we should keep him he’s indispensable

 

I've always loved him for his efforts and attitude, but * me has he grabbed the spot left open in Kyogo's absence... He looks twice the player he did, and that was already good... He's now doing kyogo-esque offside manoeuvres, running into gaps and losing players; while still doing everything else he'd done well.

AND!!! He's suddenly clinical... He's not missing much that he takes on, and everything is either a save/block or a goal...

We're gonna struggle to hold onto him in the summer at this rate, unless he wants to stay...

 

Right now he's absolutely saturated in the love of the fans and club. He's there with his family lapping it up. Get a * contract in his hands NOW! Before the interest gets fully whipped up!

That might not prevent him moving, but the terms boost, his feelings of being respected, his families influence and sense of loyalty make it his our best chance to lock him in until about 2029 season. At least we'd get a decent sell-on clause and transfer value cooked in

 

It's been crazy watching his evolution as a player. Obviously was a guy who had quality at times but just wasn't providing the end product consistently. Still was crucial for us but this season he's a different animal. I know the competition been expanded but 4 in 8 games in Europe this season is amazing for a Celtic player.

 

Watched the highlights again, it's crazy how dangerous he is through the middle, like world class, elite defenders have no answer to his movement.

Honestly think he could be Larsson levels if he keeps improving as he has. Maybe not in variation of types of goal, just mean the general level of play. Certainly movement. Exciting to see where is goes!

 

Is his kids no in nursery here? Can see him not making a fuss to move due to that compared to Kyogo/Hatate.

 

As one baldy *…brings me to absolute tears he was always able to grow a glorious head of hair this whole time.

He's the modern Samaras in that he's the guy I look to for hope when playing opposition that is better than us

 

I’m actually amazed at how good he is. You would have to go a long way back for me to admit that any player other than Callum McGregor is our best player. I think we’ve found it. He is our best player bar none and it should be the number 1 priority (after Rodgers) to get him signed up on a new long term deal.

I still think McGregor is the best player I’ve seen at Celtic since I started following properly in about 2006/7 and I’m not in the boat that says he is massively declining, I just think Daizen has turned himself into a player that would be useful for almost any club in world football.

I’m also of the opinion that we should just sign another winger. We don’t need a striker really. Maybe add one but I don’t think it’s essential, signing a winger is also an option. Daizen is an elite striker. I spent half that game on Wednesday laughing out loud at how * terrorising he was.

 

Folk need to shut up and keep these stats to themselves just post old clips of dodgy crosses ffs. He's ours forever

 

He's much better than Samaras

 

He is an enigma, however, there is no doubt he has stepped up a level this season (due to Rodgers?) There is also no doubt our game stepped up a level in intensity when Maeda went up front and Jota came in. This is no criticism of Idah who I think has done better in recent games, but, that forward line of Kuhn, Jota and Maeda has skill, pace, energy and goals in them and should be our first choice forward line up.

 

need to get him a new contract asap

 

5 year deal ASAP please.
