Think something has either clicked a bit for Yang - either that, or this is one of the instances where he has been paying attention to what works for Kuhn and Maeda and they say about BR being able to coach and improve a player - could well be in evidence here? While not exactly replicating what Maeda & Kuhn can do, he has found a way that can offer something to the system.

Whatever it is, hopefully it continues.

Just needs the few goals now. At times he goes past players (Leipzig/ Munich) like they aren't even there... A goal at the weekend would do nicely

You can see he's trying to adapt his game to the system and with his close control and quick feet can be a threat, looked really good last night and hopefully he can kick on from that

He's got the nuisance factor as well. I'm loving his progress and if it continues he's going to be an important player for us.

Contributed more in ten minutes than Hatate did the entire game.

Should be sold in the summer. A decent cameo against Bayern and a performance against a Championship side does not a Celtic player make. He's stuck out like a sore thumb in a bad way in far too many matches. That's the norm for him.

I remember Paul Gascoigne saying that sometimes it was easier for him to beat a good defender than a bad one, because the bad one was too slow to react to his feints or sometimes didn't even see them. After playing in England and Italy, beating limited defenders was something he had to add to his game.

Yang reminds me of that. I remember him tearing Owen Beck, who was probably the best non-Celtic fullback in the league at the time, a new you-know-what, he did well last night and he's done well dribbling against good defenders internationally.

He has improved his work rate a lot. He also needs to add more of an end product to his game (and I think we're seeing some improvement there), and he needs to learn how to "dumb down" his dribbling against some of the SPL defenders.

He's obviously hit a turning point, a decent loan in the summer and see where we are with him after that.

Aye I was going to say I think some people are getting a tad carried away :giggle1:

I'd loan him out maybe but let's just settle down and see what happens

Rinsed them last night, consistency and belief are his issues.

He can be a very good player if he sorts those two out.

Last night was a brief cameo of what he could be like.

We all love a good redemption arc, we forget Armstrong flattered to deceive under Ronny but Rodgers transformed him into the player he was. Remember how we wrote off Ralston too. Listen I've not been impressed by Yang for his current Celtic career but he has really good attributes such as dribbling & he's aggressive aswell which Rodgers likes from his forwards. I reckon he has a part to play in the near future.

Who did? I’ve been the chair of the Maeda fan club for literal years.

Yang isn’t remotely close to his level, in any attribute.

    Ultimately, he’s *.

Well that's not true. Daizen is clearly a better and much more effective player than Yang, no one would dispute that, but clearly Yang has some strong attributes. For example Yang is a bit more polished in his dribbling and ball control than Daizen

I still feel his biggest problem is a lack of football brain. He's technically good but his decision making and instincts let him down.

This can be fixed by coaching: if in situation X, do this, if in Y, do that.

Depending on if Rodgers views the Bayern tie as something salvageable, he might want to give Yang a start and rest the first choice wingers on Saturday. There's no better way for Yang to learn what works but through game time. Yes, he could have been loaned out, but he hasn't been, and the league is at a state where we can risk with him.

I thought Yang did more than Jota and Hatate last night, and got wired right in during his cameo, and upset Bayern with his tricky feet, change of direction and tenacity.

That's a run of four or five games where Yang is emerging as a more consistent and threatening winger.

That can't be discounted, and Brendan is obviously seeing it too, otherwise Yang wouldn't be getting all these opportunities at the top table.

Yang's main issue for me was that when he was stuck out on the right, he would run at the defenders but with no real idea about what he was going to do when he actually met them, and would more often than not just run into them and lose it. Last night showed he can be effective on the right against the best in the game; have always thought he looked fine on the left. Hopefully continues getting game time and improving.
