Actually thought he was an empty jersey first 20 min or so, but grew into the game and it was him coming onto a game that started our best spell second half. Guess was always going to take him a while to settle into the game. Some of his passing and awareness was sublime.

He did well for to get the ball out to Kuhn for the disallowed goal 20 seconds in, ball was reasonably simple for him but he let the ball run across his body well to lose Sane I think it was.

Can tell he’s playing with real confidence now. Played really well last night.

Game by game he seems to be getting better. Exciting future he has and hope we still have him when he is approaching his peak

Did you steal my post that I was doing.

Exactly how I'd put it. Came onto a right good game.

Reactions in here are more than fine, but looking elsewhere shows he's still not liked by a large portion of our support.

Don't know how you can look at him last night and say he was bad.

Thought he was our best midfielder last night by a distance tbh.

Seeing a few on twitter still saying they didn't think he was great.

    Obviously watched a different game..

I'm buzzing he's showing what he can do for many reasons. 1 reason is it may show the board what a higher level of investment can get you. We could already sell this boy for a profit as is and he's nowhere near his potential yet I think.

I thought he had a very good game until nearer the end when he was just clearly tiring, however he looked to take the ball, he got stuck in when he didn’t have it, he even bodied a couple of folk and was involved in most of our best passages of play.

I do think it was him though that vacated the space back post for the second goal, he got drawn in chasing a runner where Johnston already was, where as if he holds his position he heads it away. However, I think our set up for that defending the corner was just poor all round, you don’t leave a Striker like Kane with that much space.

Anyone who doesn’t see ability and talent in Engels has made that decision for their own reasons. He clearly has a lot of both and I would say is showing signs of learning quickly.

    An empty jersey? Jesus.

I’d hate to be this guy no matter what he does theirs always folk looking to slaughter him.

The first 20 minutes the guy was everywhere. Put a fair few foots in and made a few passes, also lost it 1/2 times but understandable. They had nearly all the ball first 20.

If McGregor had the game he had last night no one’s is looking to get on his back.

Cant understand why fans are always looking to make a dig at him. The price tag (which is * all in football) has just got some folk against him from the start.

Yeah it's bizarre behaviour. Why be so salty towards a guy we broke our transfer record on? Like people don't want us to spend the stacks of cash just festering in the bank :39:

It’s strange how so many are keen for him and Idah to fail. Engels is our only mid anywhere close to the quality you need v the elite.

Going by your quote on Sean, I assume you mean him and others?

If you read beyond the opening "empty jersey" comment and take it he entire post in context, it's a fair enough assesment and he gives plenty of credit, using terms like "best spell" and "sublime" to describe him.
Again, assuming you're still linking this to Sean, I fail to see how you think he's keen on Engels to fail here.

This is much like the Taylor situation. Some folk can't get beyond a negative point in a post and see that folk are actually happy.

It's okay to be critical of players and still manage to support them.

Just needs to add goals from open play to his game and he will get there. Totally agree that he does have potential to surpass MOR

Yes and there is plenty others. I read the entire post and and agreed with most of it . But empty jersey? Come on. That’s something you’d say if a players was hiding all game. Not because a player couldn’t get a grip of the Bayern Munich midfield in the opening minutes. As pointed out he was fine in the first 20 minutes too. Worked his * off getting about breaking up play.

Its just any excuse to get a dig at him. Guarantee the next game he plays bad he’ll be a “waste of money” etc.

But the post was overall complimentary and wasn't meant as a dig at him.

Again, folk can be critical while still supporting players.

Maybe Sean has mentioned something else within the thread, but based off the quote earlier, he's not having a pop at Engels and chomping at the bit to put him down.

It's a fair assessment, not one I overall agree with either, but it's fair.

Think Engels had a great game last night and was out best midfielder.
