Champions League Celtic v Bayern Munich Wednesday February 12th kick off 8PM TNT sports 2

Bayern are clearly among the cream of the crop. They got to the semis just last season and lost to Real Madrid by 1 goal. They knocked out Arsenal and Man Utd on the way there. This season they are 8 point clear in Bundesliga and only lost 1 game. I'd probably put them favourites over 2 legs against 6 of the top 8 from the group stage this year.

 

The problem is we have to score at least one and is anyone confident we also won’t concede?

 

I'm not having the negatives tonight. We competed well against a top, top side. We've progressed massively this season amd we should be proud.

We're still in this tie, with no expectations or anything to lose. Let's enjoy it.

As for next season, that'll take care of itself. We know where we need to improve and I believe Rodgers will demand and get what he wants.

Taylor causes a goal at this level..

We weren't aggressive enough or brave enough in or out of possession..

Shocking marking for Kane's goal..

Every 50/50 decision went with the elite club..

And they are ultimately better in every department.

 

And the positives?

 

Not a chance we don't concede.

I'm not expecting to go through, just so long as we give a good account of ourselves like tonight. What will be will be.

Does that mean a victory away, not impossible. But I'll not be expecting it.

Engels and the fact we kept it respectable.

 

If theres any positive to losing I think its maybe that Bayern might not turn up to the reverse leg quite as switched on. They prob feel the tie is over. Think if we bagged a late equaliser they would be coming out in the next leg for blood.

 

I think some are being a little too negative to be honest.

We all knew Taylor was a problem going into this game but that’s already been addressed for next season.

Apart from that I thought we looked pretty solid, although we were clearly rattled with the timing and ease of the goal.

We’ve finally seen some consistent pragmatic play from Rodgers which is hugely positive if he stays next season.

There will be more additions in the summer but some minor surgery will improve this team a lot at this level.

The core is there we just need to plug the gaps, and I believe we will.

 

Trying to talk down Bayern is daft. They were there to be got at tonight but they've unreal quality from midfield to front.

 

Seriously though leaving Kane of all * free at the back post is shocking from us.

 

That imo was our only stupid defensive error. Without that we draw.

Pat Nevin has stated the rules say its a foul. Doesn't have to be deliberate, but apparently by the letter of the law, should've had a penalty mate.

 

Fair play to us tonight when kane scored i feared the worst but we stuck at it .put things into perspective here .I've watched bayern few times the German league like other leagues very competitive .even teams lower in that league have a go trouble the top sides .where in our league its 11 players behind the ball punt charge .and full off hammer thowers .when we come against quality sides we have no chance as we don't get tested.

 

Bayern are and always will be amongst the elite.

 

Who’s better than them right now, throughout Europe, over 2 legs? Real Madrid and Liverpool, probably. I reckon they are more than a match for anyone else.
