Grand old team to play for
Taylor looked like the weak link again, but Jeff didn't look amazing when he came on either. Got the ball robbed off him in dangerous positions a couple of times soon after he came on. He did improve after that though. Don't think he's well suited to being a sub, needs time to get up to the speed of the game. Hopefully does well when he gets some starts though.

    On the whole, happy enough.

It's Bayern Munich at the end of the day. Along with Barcelona, PSG, city, Madrid etc, no one truly believes we should be beating these teams.

The goal is not to get pumped and make it difficult.
But we actually had a go at them and gave a good account of ourselves.

Some sloppy play from Taylor certainly cost us.
Hatate at times with his blind passing to no * put us on the back foot when we didn't need to be. But both also had good moments in the game and certainly Hatate is a quality player and showed it.
Felt Engels really impressed and looked the part.

Maeda through the middle made a massive difference to how we played and attacked.

we marshalled them well throughout the game, dont think we were cut open or overawed at any point but we played it safe too many times when we could have got it foward .rodgers talked about imposing our game on them when we had the chance but we didnt do it .

    Thought we played well.

By the end of the game we were looking the most likely to score next.

Yang done his chances no harm with the way he changed things when he came on.

All we can do is try to perform at the same level in Munich and see what happens!

Top table opposition. There's not a standard above Bayern Munich. They are up there, top 5 in Europe. No problem

    That's harsh and too far.
He's certainly not UCL level, but he is far from the worst LB we've had, let alone worst player to put on a jersey.

That's just playing in to the hands of the weird bunch who can't take a bad word against him.

Proud of the team tonight, and particularly the spirit shown to rally from 0-2 down.

Felt over the 97 mins, the team took time to believe in themselves and each other, against real elite opposition.

Going to be tough at their place, but hopefully the team won’t feel quite so apprehensive

Don’t really get the attacks on Taylor. He did perfectly fine and neither goal was his fault. Some people just need a scapegoat. If you fault anyone today it’s probably Rodgers for how we set up for that corner.

Reckon, much like Kuhn's goal, if that was the other way around, they get the penalty there.

Not saying either decision was wrong, I'm sure by the letter of the law they are both correct. But we've seen often a shot like Kuhn goes through the bodies and someone technically is offside and should be deemed as interference, but it never gets called.
    Same for that penalty.
For me, we got done as being the smaller team and the big team got the favours there.

Is what it is, not being sour about it, happy enough with the performance and game. But that could have been different if given.

I agree for the most part but come on!!! There’s no way Rodgers said “leave Kane alone at the back post, don’t bother marking him!!!” Ffs get a grip.

Agreed that start of the second half and that series of corners we gave up which ultimately ended with Kane scoring unmarked at the back post cost us the game. But for the most part I thought we defended well and restricted them to very few chances especially in the first half. Almost snatched a draw with Johnston's effort near the end but overall while disappointed we didn't get anything from the game I think that performance was another indication that we have made significant progress at the absolute elite level of the game because IMHO that is a game that over the past number of years at Champions League level we would have taken a real beating especially when it went to 2-0 early in the second half. Disappointed but a lot of positives to take from the game and our performance.

First goal is Taylor's fault though. He's lost at sea and absolutely useless for that goal.

Only complaint is that we didn't play the first 70mins like we did the last 20. Over-all, happy with the performance and think we could still come away victors from this tie.

He’s right though Taylor s did okay for us domestically more going forward as domestically we don’t have to do a lot of defending but anytime we play a decent side, they constantly target Taylor as the weak link, both physically and mentally, seen when Leicester won the league and also just tonight, he’s a massive upgrade from Taylor

To still be in the tie after losing the goals at the times we did is some achievement tbh.

Could've easily drifted away after the second but showed brilliant character to lift themselves give us a chance over there.

That second goal is an abomination but otherwise I thought we held our own. Infuriating the way we persist with playing out the back rather than hit Kuhn or Maeda in the channels though. When we pressed and went direct at 0-2 we got some joy but didn't have the balls to do it at 0-0 or 0-1. Need a bit of bravery and arrogance to get results against these elite *.

Still proud as * to be a Tim right enough.

Got to remember that Bayern are football royalty. If we can contain and play like that defensively against a team of that calibre and add a few tweaks with some a couple of new faces to go up a level, we will handle our own in Europe. Overall it's hard to not have the ball and be frustrated at going back. But that's Top European football.
Fact we're showing composure to keep the ball is progression on its own. Add In the fact we adopted a totally new set up and game plan shows adaptation which should stand us in good stead for Europe next season. Lessons troops. We keep going.
