That was proper game management at this level. If Olise doesn't score that on half time we all go in thinking we've managed the first half ideally imo, the goal totally changes the complexion. Aye, it wasn't perfect, but for me we went about things the exact right way.

The way in which we came back into the game speaks so much for how we've grown at this level too. As someone else said, a few years back we end up losing that 4-0.

 

I think Bayern were impressive, and that we played well overall. Shades of the Atalanta performance at times. The only time I was really disappointed in us was at the beginning of the 2nd half - we looked flat as * in the tunnel, and it showed on the pitch.

Some harsh criticism of Taylor over the goal. Break of the ball simply wasn’t kind.

 

More I look at it, it’s a clear penalty.

If you need to stand on your opponents foot like that to get the first touch then you’re fouling, especially when your touch doesn’t materially move the ball away from them. They’re essentially saying you can stamp on a player after touching the ball.

 

Start Maeda upfront and keep things tight early doors over in Germany and who knows what could happen.

Referee was an absolute * btw

 

Pragmatic approach was working for first 45 until Greg Taylor does what Greg Taylor does fully beleive if we made it 0-0 till the subs we could have got the draw or win

There’s been a lot of it after CL games on here this season.

People seem to have forgotten how terrible we’ve been in the CL for years prior to this season.

 

We defended quite well first half for the most part. But equally we spent almost the whole game until they went 2 nil up being pinned back unable get out of our half. Granted, its Bayern, its difficult. But we are at home and Rodgers has set this team to be a possession based attacking team - so to be able to get nothing at all going until 2 nil down was disappointing for me. Bayern did their homework though and knew exactly how to deal with us.

 

At least we have a chance

 

Bayern Munich an average size, really have seen it all now ffs. Folk moan that we play wide open going at better teams then get carved open and demolished, then complain about being too pragmatic and keeping ourselves in the game.

We showed a serious amount of character and bottle there as it could’ve unravelled spectacularly but it never. They essentially did to us what we do to teams on a weekly basis, had us camped in and scored 2 goals at devastating times of the game. From then on we do really well to keep ourselves in the tie albeit next to no chance but certainly never embarrassed ourselves as we have done quite often at this level.

 

This. Doesn't matter that he got the ball just before. It's the follow through. Maeda got a red last season for similar challenge. We got shafted by the officials all night.

Christ the refs face at our goal said it all.

 

Take the point, but can't help but feel like it's a missed opportunity as I genuinely don't think Bayern are that great. That's why we're playing them in the play off..

 

Thought Yang was class when he came on tonight… hopefully he proves me wrong and kicks on now.

 

Rogers * up with subs jota should have played . Idah was * done * all all game taylor should be shot on sight. Never a celtic player.... never have I been so despondent in a celtic line up with Taylor in the team. From this moment on I want him the * out of celtic. He won't progress us. I will never ever praise Taylor again as long as he plays for us.

People are mental for saying we should’ve played like that all game.

Our tactics were spot on. Clearly the plan was to contain them then compete later in the second half. If we competed like that all game we would’ve lost by more goals.

That should be the template going forward in these ties. Without Taylor as the weak link we have a great chance at winning that game.

 

Hmm… I must admit I don’t think it’s a penalty. He does stand on Engels but I don’t think it’s a stamp. He’s played the ball and it’s more of a coming together. I think the referee got the big decisions right but I think he absolutely favoured Bayern on the little things.
