We were excellent last night and played some great stuff but we have to remember it was Dundee at home. The SPL has never been an issue and realistically we could have spent less and still win the league.

The reason we want more investment is to try kick on in Europe and instead of qualifying for later stages once every 10 years or so make it a yearly thing and that's where the investment is needed for.

To be able to do that it's going to cost money but on the flip side it makes you money and puts your players in a bigger shop window that can command high fees.

We don't need BR to win the SPL as it currently sits and BR does nothing much for his rep by only winning the SPL.

SPL is completely irrelevant outside of Scotland but is our bread and butter. If we aim to make more of a mark in Europe with our signings then the SPL takes care of itself.

So yeah we were class tonight but SPL has not been an issue. Let's back BR or we we will lose him. If he goes who else is going to step up under those conditions?

That was great recommendation. Good watch. Summed up all aspects well. The more these mistakes keep happening, the more folk leave (Lawell jnr and his pal) the more things stay the same. So it's the CEO that's failing.

Great point made, 4 outta or last 5 signings have been made on deadline day. A well organised, structured and professional club doesn't do this.

We have one striker, whether he was £9m or 9p, we only have one striker. That's not good enough. There were absolutely deals that could be done. We chose not to.

We have Rodgers, who's ambitious and wants to progress the squad always. And senior management who don't and can't.

And well be saying the same on August 31st those year also.

If these points were raised to the board and happy clappers, they'd struggle to adequately address these issues.

    Cheers again.

I wouldn't class Kuhn as a punt. Think we just got a good deal as he had his dental/health issues when we signed him. Learned his trade at Bayern and Ajax. Then went to Rapid Vienna and was top of the Austrian league for assists.

I think we could be in a situation where rodgers targets either didnt agree terms or the funds were out of what we were gonna pay. Rodgers not wanting squad fillers has decided to go with what he has and use the money in summer at least i hope im right

I totally get this. My worry is at any given moment they will flip back and the apparent changes we’ve started to see will just be anomalies - maybe purely due to Rodgers having Desmond’s ear for a while.

I wouldn’t be at all surprised if that’s what ends up happening, but I hope they kick on instead.

Celtic aim to land Danish striker for next season.

Celtic have begun working on a deal to sign Brondby striker Mathias Kvistgaarden in the summer.

The decision to sell Kyogo Furuhashi without a replacement striker lined up was an "unnecessary risk" and "a major disappointment", says former Celtic player and pundit Chris Sutton.

David Strelec, linked with Celtic last month, was given "permission to transfer for a while", says Slovan Bratislava manager Vladimir Weiss, before adding: "then it stopped and then it didn't happen.

With respect mate, none of those clubs have a bearing on how we manage our window. Im only interested in Celtic getting it right and its an all to familiar story for us.
We have the money, but we didnt have a plan B for the eventuality that plan A didnt work out.

They don’t, but when you see how quiet the January window was in general, I think it puts our window into perspective. I think the summer window put us in a position where a quieter January wasn’t a “disaster” as some put it. A loan for a striker to add more cover would have definitely helped, and I was disappointed we didn’t get that, but some folk were losing their mind over the window. I didn’t expect a lot of business to be honest. If the same happens in the summer, and I certainly wouldn’t rule it out given our board’s history, then I’ll be as furious as I was after the first and second windows after Rodgers returned.

It doesnt excuse our lack of strategy and execution mate. We shouldnt have went from a position of security to one of risk. We can only take accountability for our own decisions and what we can control.

Aye I get that to be fair. We clearly had all our eggs in the Kvistgaarden basket. If they were looking for £14m, I do think we were correct not to go that high, and I think we will go back in the summer and Brondby will again have a decision to make. We should have had a back up loan in mind though to bolster number until the summer in my opinion. I don’t think it was a disaster though.

We say this often about players, that we can go back in summer for them.

But what if he bags another 10 goals by then? Won't brondby then be asking for MORE?

Or what of he doesn't score anything at all? Do we want to sign someone that's *?

I agree, of £14m was out of our limit, that's fine. It's a lot and I'm happy if we are willing to go in to a double digit bracket, but just seem this one too much.
But we've also tracked this lad for two seasons now - how did we not know brondby was wanting that much and not willing to negotiate far from it?

These are the frustrating questions that folk have.

Thought they was answered? They had a share issue and £20m in the bank from it so no longer needed to sell. Even at £14m it was not certain as the chairman said they wouldn't sell for anything in that window. Amazing what money in the bank does to potential buyers. He'll push for a move in the summer and it'll be easier.

That answers why they weren't desperate to sell him, doesn't answer what happens if he scores a dozen more goals or doesn't score at all - what then happens to his value and what brondby demand.

What happens between now and the summer is outwith our control. The fact is, if Brondby wanted £14m for him, I think we were right not to pay that. I said this previously, but I’d imagine other clubs were also interested in him, and nobody else thought he was worth what Brondby wanted. Sometimes a deal just cannot be done. I’d be amazed if we weren’t heavily linked again in the summer.
