New manager perhaps doesn’t fancy him.

Matt O'Riley only got subbed on at 89 mins for Brighton too

Two players who combined well for goals at home against Atletico Madrid and Lazio last season

Brighton fans have been a bit harsh on O'Riley I think. He had a terrible injury and came back into a side not in great form. Their manager, for whatever reason, hasn't really given him a fair run of games. Seems to come off the bench most of the time and barely play. Had about the equivalent of 5 full games so far. Think his quality will shine through eventually but.

Kyogo's move was a bizarre one though. New manager in right away and not even getting off the bench tonight doesn't bode well. Hopefully he finds his way.

Move looks more and more stupid by each passing game.

More chance of me getting called up for Japan world cup squad than him

Would happily buy Kyogo back for £3m and O'Riley for £10m in 12-24 months down the line.

I think there's certain players I get bit emotional, or at least very nostalgic when they move on and Kyogo was one of them.....Henrik obviously, and Stan Petrov too....

Wee kyogo had an infectious enthusiasm. Very humble at the same time...Although I wouldn't have known if he was a complete arrogant * since I understand absolute zero Japanese. You just got the impression that he was likable.

Some very important goals he scored for us. Put the huns to the samurai sword a lot of times which always gets you extra kudos. His highlights video is awesome.

Was he our best striker since Larsson?....well if you don't include Sutton or Hartson who played on after Larsson.....then it's a tight call between Kyogo and Dembelle.

    So would I but it's a rare thing to re-sign a player. (Even although we've just re-signed 2!)

It's dependent on the player wanting to come back...some players just won't go back the way. Some won't take a pay cut even to if its to come back to Celtic.

I didn't expect Jota back at all. I thought that was him away making crazy doe...never to return. I kinda had a feeling about Tierney...but not this early...I thought he'd come back in his mid 30s probably.

One player I'd love back........Carl Starfelt.....he'd still be here if it wasn't for that bird of his moving to Spain. He went to Celta Vigo. Another uninspiring club. He didn't want to leave but Jacynta was hypnotic and you'd follow her about like a wee Collie dug if she was your fancypiece

Honestly has to be one of the worst moves I've seen. Hope someone comes in for him in the summer , a shame for him not to be playing football.

Honestly don't really care now, same for O'Riley. Loved them when they were here but once they've gone, they've gone.

O’Riley yes , Kyogo no, he’ll be 31/32 then. He wasn’t happy here so don’t see why he would be in two years time

32 isn't retirement age. He'll still have a few years left in him and he'd be an outstanding second or third choice.

He may not have been happy here but I would imagine he'd have a dose of reality of how well he had it.

Wont be the first to have that dawn on them. Guys like him Dembele, Edouard etc leave and never know the passion and adulation like they did here. Look at Jota’s reaction after he scored last week, he felt it alright

His agent spoke of the interest in him
    https://www.thetimes.com/sport/football/article/secrets-modern-football-agent-tp3k2zkxw

An agent will already be feeling out interest in a player who is open to a move or entering the latter stages of their contract. Kyogo Furuhashi, one of Pannick’s clients, was ready to leave Celtic in January but wanted to do so amicably after scoring 85 goals in 165 appearances for the club

It’s my job then to understand what the player’s objectives are. We had teams from all over the world express interest. There are certain markets where it would have been a very lucrative contract, but what sporting ambitions would realistically be achieved, particularly with the World Cup in mind in 18 months? Then we had to speak to Celtic to understand their perspective because a club has no desire to lose their best player halfway through the season,” he says

Those conversations took place about two months before the window opened, ensuring Celtic had time to finalise a deal for a replacement. Only then was Furuhashi able to complete a £10million move to Rennes in Ligue 1.

These things are never easy. Often clubs will talk directly up to a certain point and the big number will be agreed, but then the dates of the payments, bonus structures, future sell-on percentages, these small points can become sticking points,” Pannick says

There’s no travel booked without the permission of the club. Then, there is usually a two-part medical at a hospital and the training ground. There’s cardio work, blood tests, a general check-up. Some clubs are very stringent, others not so much. Then, there is a final check of the paperwork. Your lawyer comes in at that point and the media team will take the player off to take some photos and film a few short videos and coordinate the announcements.”

There are various chairmen and chief executives who people find difficult to negotiate with. The more difficult they are, the better it is for us because we will work with them,” Angel says.

He refuses to give named examples and stresses the key to successful brokering is privacy, but it is an influential and potentially lucrative line of work, and the agency can also then help to find a suitable replacement for a reluctant selling club.

    Ridiculous move.

World Cup in mind in 18 months when he will be 31. Doesn't game a get a game now despite Maeda and Hatate regularly featuring for us same time...so his agent sorts a move to Rennes fighting relegation in France? Weird.

Still. If we had discussions 2 months before and couldn't sort a replacement or even cover, it still isn't great from us. But it's been done to death over the past week or so.

I still think we made the right decision and won't regret it.
