A lot of players don’t realise how good they have it here until they leave. (Hooper, Jota etc) He also only has one more chance to play at a World Cup and he was never getting selected playing for Celtic for whatever reason. He also maybe just wanted to sample a top 5 league before his time was up.

You have to look at it as if you were in that position. He’s come to the other side of the world where football is massive and where all the best teams and players are, quite late aswell. Making very good money. He’s probably wanting to test himself in a tougher league and will have been offered even better money, that itself is enough to make players go elsewhere. He done 3.5 years here and won it all, some things numerous times. Have to remember he isn’t a Celtic fan so is not going to have same connection as the supporters. Hes 30 too so probably last big contract of his career. I don’t think it’s that odd apart from the fact it was a team so low down the league at the minute.

I was reading somewhere that his new agent is also the manager of the Japanese national team.

Just watched some highlights of games over the last couple of seasons where kyogo was electric and scored some brilliant goals. Just brought it back to me how much his form had dropped this season.

Form wasn’t up to much the season either tbh. Had some great game but they were few and far between. He’s scored 19 in 50 apps 23/24 which isn’t bad but also isn’t amazing for a CF here considering our 2 wingers have nearly matched it already this season. I think he lived off the derby goals last year and a half personally.

There was a wee boy on the bus today with his dad and his wee brother. His da had obviously picked them up from primary school.
He was watching a Kyogo highlights video on his phone and he started crying. "I miss him da.." he was saying.
His dad put his arm round him and said "it's OK son, this is what I was like when Larsson left".
And he's wee brother said "it's OK he'll come back, just like jota"

I felt so sorry for the wee boy. Kyogo was obviously his hero.

He just looked sharp as * at times, something he didn't have this season.

I loved the wee guy and I'm sorry he's away but I don't think we'll see much of a drop off playing Idah.

Yeah. Idah getting going and with the arrival of Jota plus the deadly weapons in Maeda and Kuhn we will be spot on. Expect us to be even better actually.

That’s how I see it too. Don’t doubt he enjoyed his time with us but the Japan manager’s comments about him needing to score in a better league will have weighed on him. He’s desperate to play for Japan next summer at the World Cup. Hope it works out for him. Modern Celtic icon.

I seriously don't think he will. He hit a glass ceiling here in terms of his international career. That's his next goal, and he wasn't going to get that chance while at Celtic

Maeda gives that deadpan stare and tells the manager he is playing.

At the last World cup at the time the wee man was brilliant for us and l couldn't figure out why he wasn't picked until l seen the quality of the Japan squad. I know he's playing in a better standard of league but he's not getting any younger

It doesn't make sense I agree. I'm sure Ideguchi got called up once and he was nowhere near our first team.

Also I dont see how moving to a struggling club that have a serious chance of getting relegated is going to help him to get called up
