    Welcome Jeff.

Is it true he can play a number of positions?

No.6 is where he could be invaluable. Even as a double pivot in some games. I'm glad we have this option now, because it would fill a gaping hole in our midfield.

Schlupp might turn out to be our next Wanyama :BR1:

Jeffrey Schlupp arrived at Celtic on Monday as a deadline day signing, joining the club on a six-month loan from Crystal Palace.

As soon as the player learned of Celtic’s interest, there was not a moment’s hesitation in making the move to the Scottish champions.

And now that he’s here, the 32-year-old is determined to do everything he can to help Brendan Rodgers’ side in achieving their goals in the remainder of the season.

On his first day at Lennoxtown, the left-sided player spoke to Celtic TV about his move to the Hoops and his previous experience of Paradise.

“I’m super excited," Jeffrey Schlupp admitted. “It’s actually been one of my dreams, as much as many others, to play for such a great club like Celtic.

“I had the pleasure of playing here about nine years ago in a pre-season match, so I’ve actually been to the stadium before and the atmosphere and everything about it was something exciting.

"So as soon as the opportunity came up, I was really excited about it

“Everyone always speaks about the experience of playing at Celtic, the atmosphere, the fans and the stadium as you’re driving up to it

    .
That pre-season game in July 2016 was a match between Celtic and Leicester City in the International Champions Cup which finished 1-1, with the English side winning the subsequent penalty shoot-out.

At the time, Leicester were the Premier League champions, and one of Schlupp’s team-mates from that time, Kasper Schmeichel, is now one of his new team-mates at Celtic.

“Kasper was one of the first people I spoke to when this opportunity came up,” Schlupp explained. “He messaged me and we spoke, and he told me about how great the club is, how much I’ll enjoy playing here, and I can’t wait to link up again.

'To be able to play together again after such a long time and the memories we’ve got together, it’s going to be a special thing that I’m definitely looking forward to.'

The Ghanaian internationalist is looking forward to the next six months and helping the team across the three competitions they’re still involved – the Premiership, Scottish Cup and, of course, the UEFA Champions League, with an exciting knockout phase play-off against German giants, Bayern Munich, looming on the horizon.

And Jeffrey Schlupp is also eager to start working with Brendan Rodgers, having heard so much positive feedback from other players about the Celtic manager.

“I’ve watched the other Champions League games and the boys have performed so well in it,” he said.

“To be able to get a draw like Bayern Munich is very exciting for the fans and everyone involved with the club but, again, it’s a game that we’re obviously going to go and try to win.

“As much as enjoying the experience, it’s a game that we want to win and try to get through the play-offs.

“I know players who have worked under the manager and they’ve always said the same thing – great coach, great guy and if you work hard for him he’ll be great for you.

“So that’s what I’m planning to do. I want to repay him for the faith he has in bringing me here, and hopefully I can do that with some good performances and hopefully we, as a squad, can achieve some great things.”

Cool didn't know he was part of that Leicester side and had played alongside Schmeichel before. Think if we'd managed to bring in a striker we'd all be a lot more positive with this.

Idah insisted Celtic fans will be wowed by new recruit Jeffrey Schlupp – who he faced numerous times down south. He said: “I’ve played against him back down in England, and he is a fantastic player.

I think we’ve all seen videos and the goals that he's scored. I’m really excited to play with both of them, to be honest. It will be a great for me as a player, and it will be a great chance to get to play with them

“I think I played against Jeffery on my debut, and he was unbelievable. We’ve got the same agent, so I know a lot about him.

“From a young age, I knew he was a top player, and from hearing from other players, they seem to say the same thing. So I’m really excited to play with him

Sounds like he could take the reigns off mcgregor and let him venture further forward where he should be

I have no idea but the videos of his time at Palace mainly show him playing as a left winger or a more attacking midfielder. His main attribute looks like powerful driving runs both down the wing or through the middle of the pitch.

I haven’t seen him play recently at all so no idea if he is still as quick or if he has lost half a yard.

If he is to be used as cover at left back it would be some amount of running power down our left hand side if he had Maeda in front of him.

It does look like we couldn’t get targets we wanted so we have signed someone that can play left wing, centre midfield or left back.

I am not sure he would have the positional discipline to play as a holding midfielder and that would probably nullify his main strength of ball carrying and breaking opposition lines through that.

In his interview it was interesting that he seemed to focus more on being a left sided CM. Glosses over playing LB. Just wonder if Rodgers has told him it’ll be CM cover more than LB cover.

He hasn't played much there since his time at Leicester. I don't think.

I can see him being that powerhouse midfielder and at emergency a left back.

Is he actually going to even play? Taylor will continue at left back, so who else is he replacing? I’m glad we’ve signed him but just seems a bit of pointless one unless Taylor was to get injured.

Taylor picks up a we niggle now and again. Plus we need a bit of strength to close the odd game out. Plus if he turns out mooyesque we may just offer him a pre-contract but without the risk. Try before you buy etc.

I'd play him in the away game vs Bayern over Taylor.

We need some power and experience against them. If Elise is playing Schlupp trained with him for about 4 years as well.

He pretty much confirmed that LB is the main position he will play. Really excited to see him play. One of those guys im just 95% sure he will be a massive success. I have been one of the guys on here crying out for us getting experience into the mix. I am sure that these type of signings will make us stronger.
