has 7 international goals for Slovakia 5 goals in champions league this season between qualifiers and group stages my point is he has playing at a higher level than Kvistgaarden and done ok at that level so not sure why people are dismissing him

He just doesn't look as good as fit for us, as Kvistgaarden does..

Just my opinion. Looks like Kvistgaarden has a higher ceiling..

Doesn’t look like we will get a striker. I think the board’s view is we are gonna get humped in the CL anyway. We’ve effectively won the league and hope the squad is strong enough to retain the Scottish cup. We’ve effectively won will cope with Idah Kenny and perhaps maeda as CF

Agreed. Board most likely thinking no point in adding to costs anymore than Jota for effectively 2 UCL games and 14 league games. Totally get where they are coming from.

David Strelec's dad has lifted the lid on the Slovan Bratislava striker's failed move to Celtic.

And he insists a switch to the Scottish Premiership champions would have been "great" for his son. Kyogo's departure leaves the Hoops have been left with Adam Idah left as the only recognised first-team striker after the deadline passed on Monday night with Johnny Kenny acting as back up - despite making just one appearance since returning from his successful loan spell at Shamrock Rovers.

Record Sport revealed that Strelec was one of the names that is on the Hoops' radar going into the final hours of the winter window. Sport 24 report that Celtic told Slovan they were willing to pay £8m for the 23-year-old on deadline day- but the Slovakian champions demanded a £9.5m payday for the frontman. Following the closure of the window, Strelec's agent Michal Čierny was asked if a move to Glasgow's east end was off the table following last-gasp talks. He said: "Yes, for now it is

Speaking the same outlet, his dad Milan opened up on a frantic final 24 hours for his son: "The clubs did not agree. And is David sad?

First of all, he is a professional, and he takes it that way. The world will not collapse.

Slovan was very interested in staying, helping Slovan win the championship and also getting back into the main stage of the Champions League. I don't take it as tragic either, although a transfer to Celtic would be great

Easy to say it's a higher standard but a lot of them goals and games where against genuine part timers like Malta and San Marino , and 4 double leg UCL qualifiers. "International " football is a very very broad category .

that’s fair enough I agree but why not? International Footballer playing and scoring in champions league isn’t that the going rate for that type of profile

The Slovakian league is awful. For starters.

That's where he's scoring most of his goals and played most of his football. Just think £10m is a lot.

Granted he's capped internationally and played UCL this season which has driven the price undoubtedly. I dunno. Just a feeling with him.

I feel we have dodged a bullet here. Don't know why, but I had a strong feeling of another Scepovic in the making.

So we've no replacement striker because of £1.5m difference in valuations, from scummy sun

But speaking to Slovak outlet Sport 24 today, Strelec's dad Milan revealed Celtic missed out on the 23-year-old because they failed to agree a fee for him.
He has stated the Hoops were willing to spend £8m but the Slovakian champions demanded a £9.5m fee.

We'd still have made £500,000 from selling Kyogo but that's not enough for our accountants to strengthen our team

It is good that transfer details like this come out, so that we may know how the club operates. I value Strelec higher than Kvistgaarden, but our board value the cash reserves more than backing the manager.

Got to be honest, whilst I am still fizzing about the transfer window, I see nothing about this guy to justify paying anywhere near £8m or £9.5m.

This is the second thread you've started that could easily have gone in the transfer window thread.

We have to have limits. If the club were willing to spend £8m it tells me they weren't the cheapskates. I think £8m would be a bit high for him tbh.
