Hopefully has a clean run from now to the end of the season.

Aim should be for 25 goals. Mon big yin.

Fans need to get behind him now rather than hounding him at every opportunity.

Knowing our fans he'll have 1 bad game and we'll be acting like it's his fault we didn't replace Kyogo

Big man will have been buzzing last night. Even he probably expected the club to bring in a striker.

I’ve no doubts about Idah. In fact I think he will do a better job than Kyogo did over the past few months. Only worry is if he gets injured and Kuhn or something and we end up with a front line of Jota Maeda Yang

Yep. Terrible situation to be in and its the boards fault. Unfortunately fans are not always nice and if he have a bad game or two he will get dogs abuse along with the board for not getting "a better striker than him in".

Honestly think he will run riot with Jota.

In the space of 30 mins on Sunday Jota fired in about 6 or 7 crosses that Kuhn and certainly Maeda rarely do.

Been critical of him at times but he's now the main man and I think he will grasp the chance. Particularly as you'd hope there'd be an eye on the summer thinking someone else will definitely come in then (lol).

Maeda and him seemed to have a good understanding on Sunday too, Idah was attacking the 6 yard box as soon as Maeda got it wide, hopefully that can continue to work for us.

Cmon mate. 23 isn’t a kid nowadays in football. No like it’s an 18 year old. We are talking about an experienced player who has played in the EPL, Europe and has 30 caps at International level. If he isn’t ready for pressure now, when will he be.

I think there's a little element of Idah and Maeda stepping out of the shadow that Kyogo cast here... I certainly hope so anyway! His moving on has presented an opportunity to reshape how our forward section operates and they can perform as a result. Jota's inclusion massively assists that too, with a new impetus on attack from all areas...

If we can find a way to properly harness the differing skills, abilities and mentalities of Jota, Kuhn, Maeda and Idah together in a match, with our other players also flowing into the moves, there could be a formidable forward line in effect...

    Hopefully... :56:

Its still a big weight to carry.. a lot of pressure for a young player.. his form has been patchy even when he had a run of starts.

There won't be much patience if it doesn't work out..

Hopefully, he thrives .. last two performances have been excellent..

It's a gamble tho.. as if he isn't doing it there won't be much respite..

That's a very one-dimensional view of players! Not every player in the world needs to be a finished article in their teens... That's like saying your kid is thick because there's other kids out there with degrees at 18...

23 is NOT young, by modern standards, but it's also probably only about 5 years into a 18 year professional career, if he keeps himself in good shape, so he's got plenty of development time and chance ahead of him...

As for matches he's played, most of his big chances have been with us or because of us. His actual chances in England were slim and short. Europe and league with us, he's been an understudy/super-sub type addition. Ireland has been callups due to absence of other challengers mostly, and he'd also not be the first or anywhere near best to not handle a changeover to the international setup well.

I'd say it's fair to say that on his individual path, at 23 he's still "growing" and as such is subject to unusual stresses and pressures - especially in the Glasgow goldfish bowl!

No hiding place at Celtic... You live or die by your performance and attitude. I'd say his attitude has been grand, and last few games so has his performance... He's earning the breathing space he's getting, but needs to keep it up if he wants to keep the jackals away!

Personally think knowing he’s now the undisputed number 1 striker at the club will be the making of him. This is the break he’s been waiting for since he arrived and after that young boys game and goal (clearly not his) he looks as though the weight of the world has been lifted off his shoulders. His performance against villa the other night was the best from a Celtic striker at that level since Dembele against Man City at home in 2016.

It really is gonna be the make or break time for him.

I'll not fawn over the last two games as if he's been excellent and a changed player, but he has been good(in the sense better than he was first half of the season) and the goals surely will help the confidence.

But he now needs to kick on and make the last two games basically the benchmark of acceptable games - with the Killie game last season what he needs to be achieving more often than not!

Balls in his court, kick on and it's all good.
But of these two passable games are just a moment in a season of mediocre games, then * help us all.

3 games ago.. "he needs to kick on now he created that goal to get us qualified"

Next game scores 2.. needs to use that to kick on... then scored again and another offside (was it *) but needs to use that to kick on?

When we gonna stop saying that? When will it count as he's kicked on?

He's also been unfortunate in some previous games when he's had nothing to work with.

3 games that span all of 10 games.

I get your point, he's doing it just now, but think we need to see it over more than a 10 day spell.

Can't put a number on how many games, but needs to be at the stage we are confident in him, that we aren't waiting on the next * performance.
That could be in two games time, could be the next game where he bosses it.
Or we could go three games where he's posted missing and we are back to the Idah of the first half of the season.
