I think we had plans James but we had a set value and where not going above it. As I said multiple times we are in a profit majorly from player trading this financial year it doesn't make sense for a football club to hoard that amount of cash

I think it is clear the Board see the league as won, the CL games against Bayern as 'nice' to have and only really the cup up for grabs. So no real need to a) break the bank for a striker or b) show some ambition.

I can't see it that way, mate. Kyogo wanted to go and the fact that he left on our terms (we got a very good fee for a player that age and that can't have been the kind of move he had in mind) is quite well done. We went after this Danish guy and it was looking promising, but then they upped their price to more than he was worth, we can't give in to that. The club are clearly trying their best to get someone in on a loan.

On the other side, we can't underestimate just how unusual it is to get players of KT and Jota's quality to come here in their prime. We paid a substantial fee for the latter too. This lad from Crystal Palace looks to be a smart loan that ticks a lot of boxes (we need more physical strength and he can cover multiple positions). Add to that, getting Palma off the wage bill with a good chance of a decent fee next summer is also really good work.

It's not a great window (KT in early and a striker in the next 25 minutes would make it that, though); but as January windows go, I'd say this is genuinely above average.

Aye at the start of the window I was thinking a max of two in. But that was before Kyogo left.

Not even sure he’s catholic mate, but it’s irrelevant. We’re a club open to all.

We didn't do that, though. We had this Danish kid lined up. Brondby raised the price on us because they thought they had us by the proverbials. They were wrong.

Gross mismanagement (+100 mill in bank and currently holding every domestic trophy in Scotland while being the only team in the last 24 ofcl from a country of less than 10 mill people)

They must have short memories, if they don't remember the "Sack the Board" chants last season, when we had an injury crisis.

They should be corresponding this with the manager then, he could have easily tempered expectations. This reeks of the board pulling rank on him for speaking out about wanting a striker

I'm not arguing that we shouldn't have sold kyogo, though. So I don't know why you're bringing that up in your first paragraph.

My point is we will have known he's wanted away foe a while so why isn't a replacement in by now? If you watch Rodgers interviews for pretty much the past week you'll see him saying things similar to many on here. We need to replace him, need the quality in etc. We've scouted Kvistgaarden for 2 years. How has it taken until the last 48hrs of the window to deduce we can't pay what they want?

Noone is saying anything here that is ludicrous.

I'm also not denying Jota and Tierney being excellent signings. But it doesn't excuse selling your best striker and not replacing them mid season. During what is supposedly a "difficult window because clubs don't sell their best players".
