All jokes aside, surely a deal can be agreed by both clubs? Halfers on his remaining contract, Bob's yer uncle. Not a chance we're holding off, trying to get him for * all.

Why? Because we'll need to spend money regardless on some * else, OBVIOUSLY we'd rather spend it on KT.

No two ways about it...Arsenal are the culprits here if we don't land him the night. * *.

Arsenal aren’t the problem, here. They’re part of it but it’s probably all of us. Celtic, Arsenal and the player/his representatives

Arsenal would probably let him go for free, the main problem is the wage difference.

He might be due £3-4million in wages and bonuses over the next 4 months. We're not going to give Tierney that much just to have him for 15 games especially when he is injury prone, imagine bringing him in and having to give him about £3.5million and then he gets goosed and is out 2 months and we only see him 4/5 times would be a massive blunder when he was coming for free anyway.

All hypothetical I guess, but sell him for £25 million, bring him back for 4 months EPL wages for CL play off and run in to the title. Would that be so ridiculous ? How much are we playing Schlupp in the meantime? Get KT bedded in for CL qualifier next season is surely a good thing?

When you see KT's face last night you have to wonder at how this affects the mental health of players. KT clearly needs to break with that club. I'm still not entirely sure about his coming back. We apply a lot of sentimentality when we're looking at previous players. In saying that I concede that KT deserves our respect for the player that he was for us. The question for me is will he be the same 2nd time around? Maybe yes as he would have good players around him.

I’m genuinely gutted for KT. He clearly wanted to come back now and BR definitely wanted him. This is all down to arteta DB. I hope arsenal win absolutely * all

He’s already a multi millionaire! This is about playing football which he clearly won’t be doing for the next 6 months of what is a very short career

It would be, but they will be looking to minimise the financial risk involved in bringing him back, considering his injury issues.

He will almost certainly be getting a significant signing fee, it wouldn't surprise me if it's 2 or 3 million, he'll also be one of our highest paid players, if you add to that another 3-4 million to pay out his contract for a few months worth of games it doesn't look particularly appealing, when they will know they won't be getting any more money from him as a transfer down the line and he might be out for large chunk of any given season.

So from a purely footballing point of view getting him in now makes sense, but to the money men in charge it won't.

Being reported we've offered to pay a good chunk of Schlupp's wages for the loan, zero chance we wouldn't have offered the same to Arsenal. Think it's absolutely blatant they've been the culprits.

Yeah he's on 60kpw. Not Tierney level but I'd imagine we are paying a lot of it.

Daft innit? It's money Arsenal could have been saving, on a player that will hardly play. Crazy.

Schlupp’s salary isn’t near as high as Tierney’s and he almost certainly won’t be due the bonuses that KT is and could be come the end of the season either.

To us that’s a huge outlay, to KT it’s a huge difference maker, to Arsenal it’s not much more than a drop in the ocean.

Arsenal will need to pay the full whack now regardless, I'd have thought ANY chance to shave something off it would have been worth it for them. Cannot get my head round it at all.

We probably are paying a very large chunk of Schlupps wages but he's on half of what Tierney is on a week. I don't think it' just about the £3m in wages he is due. He will be due some very good loyalty bonuses for keeping to his contract and likely a figure will be given to him, not sure how big, but a compensation type figure because Arsenal have decided against exercising the one year contract extension. So the £3m figure in wages could easily be double that when everything else gets taken into consideration.

The player probably doesn't want to walk away from £5m/£6m he is due over the next 6 months and I can almost guarantee his representatives are telling him to stay put until he gets all the money he's owed. They need to look out for him and it's probably right he stays, purely from a financial point of view. The big chunk of money coming his way is likely one of the reasons why he can make the trip back up the road, with life changing cash in his bank account and a very handsome and healthy contract offer already signed with us for the next 4 years. There's no real need for him to make the move and his agents will be making that perfectly clear.

We probably don't want to pay anywhere near £2m/£3m for him and Arsenal probably don't want to pay a player off when they can keep him in and around the squad for the next 6 months and rest some of their main players against weaker teams/cup games. He's not causing any issues for Arsenal either. He's a top professional, which we all know and Arsenal know that themselves.

Probably just a mix of everything to be honest. * but I don't really mind. Schlupp is a decent enough option at LB and he can play in the middle. It's not ideal, though. Would have much preferred Tierney in the door now, as you get them to bed in for 6 months, with qualifiers in the summer, I thought the club would have been a little bit more proactive on the striker/winger front.

Kieran Tierney's comeback - on a pre-contract before a summer return - will be confirmed in the next few hours.

Arsenal were happy for him to go today on a permanent deal if he was happy walking away from the money due. It’s not to their benefit to let him go if they’re paying him off the vast majority of what he’s owed. They might as well keep him for depth.
