Apparently Schlupp has played as a striker 11 times in his career. Sorted.

Yeah I was expecting the LB to be underwhelming, clearly banked everything on Tierney joining.

Celtic have opened talks with Crystal Palace over a loan deal for Jeffrey Schlupp.

The Hoops want to bring in the former Ghana international for the second half of the season. Celtic have table an offer and are pushing to get the deal over the line - and the the 32-year-old is keen on the move north, for the chance to go for silverware and to play in the Champions League

The Hoops are on the look-out for cover at left-back with Kieran Tierney not arriving at Celtic until the end of the current Premiership campaign. The search has been intensified with Greg Taylor currently the only left-back option at Celtic Park following the end of Alex Valle's loan. Schlupp has played has played left-back, central midfield and on the wing over the years since his move from Leicester in 2017

The 32-year-old is out of contract with the London club in the summer and the Scottish champions have made a loan offer with a deal "close" to being agreed

Where we will go from our current position of having only 1 mediocre left back to having a very good one with serious questions over his fitness.

Crazy idea but perhaps a bit of forward planning and sign a left back good enough for the 1st team just now who could genuinely compete with Tierney next year.

More I think on it, more it really is a * signing that they're gonna milk the epl tag with.

We aren't signing him full time, he ain't gonna play second fiddle to KT.
So it really is just a short term fix.

Then why not just admit it and use the youth?

As some say, we are miles ahead in the league so domestically we will be fine. For the Bayern game he's not gonna play, it's gonna be GT.
So why the * not give this time to the youth and see if one steps up?

Because realistically, if none are good, then we should be signing a loan with an option to buy of a young talent (sort of like Valle) who we then have as the understudy to KT for a couple seasons.

Solid EPL pro, plays various positions.
Not a last day glamour signing - but I think he could do us fine as utility / squad player.
Nobody thought Mooy would be any good either.

Apparently been shopped around to the Championship all window but doesn't fancy it.

This is definitely going to happen. I don't mind it but it just reeks of lack of forward planning whilst stifling the development of younger players as usual.

As mentioned before, he's barely played as a LB in his career (less than 20%). But if Taylor is going to start vs Bayern anyway, this is truly pointless. We don't need Schlupp to win the League or SC.

Now if Rodgers wants to play a strong, physically imposing midfield against Bayern and utilises Schlupp there, I can get on board with that. Our midfield is soft as * and needs steel. But if he doesn't, again it's pointless.

I'd much rather promote a youth player or recall someone like Anderson from his loan if Schlupp is just being brought in to cover Taylor or the LW position.

Bottom line is, a serious club wouldn't be scrambling around for players like Schlupp a few hours before the deadline. If he's the only guy they bring in, then certain positions at the club surely become untenable.

So if we didn't get Tierney you thought we'd get a left back to play against Bayern?

I'm not as against this signing as others are tbh, but it again shows a distinct lack of forward planning by the board.

I think he's out of contract in the summer so if he does do good then it's another option, but still.
