Are these players actually any good? I try an catch the B team games in the Uefa youth league but rarely do I even watch the B teams highlights in the league games.
Thought Murray was poor when he came on against Villa, nearly got caught out 4 or 5 times cause he was too slow at releasing the ball then eventually gave it away for their 4th goal. As far as I'm aware Cummings came on touched it once and lost it? That's all I can remember tbh so I could be talking *.
I would love more youth to come through but I also love shiny new signings so it's a tough one.
They need to playing in a better quality league though for a start. I don't know whether a merge with the English Reserves league would work?

 

I would have imagined the issue with merging with the English for reserve leagues. Games are usually midweek for them and if we happened to be playing against any of the teams geographically 9+ hours of travel away. Would soon be tiresome for everyone involved. And also financially wouldn’t be ideal.

Think the B team idea within Scotland is best but we need promotion available up to the championship. Like is possible in Spain. If our B team could play regularly in the championship that would be a great start for them and although still a huge jump to then play for the first team it’s not as drastic as it is now

 

Don't think that's true. Everybody was sceptical about using Tilio and Yang ahead of Vata. I think people are happy for youth to be 2nd or 3rd choice for a position.

Cummings wasn't even third choice striker, and if battering in goal after goal in the lowland league UEFA youth league isn't enough to have gotten time then what is? He should have been on the bench and getting game time.

That’s how much we rate him tribunal, honest, so to find out less than a week after we play him in such a huge game that he’s leaving on a pre-contract, we’re heartbroken, devastated. In fact; we’ve had to go out and spend a fortune on deadline day to future proof our striking department as a result.

Aberdeen got £650k + about £250k worth of potential bonuses for Barron. Why should we accept £500k for our elite champions league level prodigy?

They're competing against players levels about our team to get into the first team as well. It's all just scale.

Barca b still play against semi pros.

Motherwell manage to get youngsters through, Watford manager it, Aberdeen manage it, Man United, Leverkusen, Bodo Glimt do.

If we don't start producing youngsters in 3/4 years we will have nobody to fill the 4 club trained slots for Europe.

Aye the Lowland league isn't ideal but the alternative is just friendlies right now, it is a let down from Scottish football and needs addressing beyond club level for youth development in the country but we need to do better ourselves.

 

It's a realistic idea now that our business is most likely on Jota coming in and we will go with what we have for the remaining league games and UCL matches. What's left around 20 games max this season? Playing 1 game per week from March onwards looks like board happy to go with what we have and earn some interest on the cash in bank and review in summer which with a 10 point lead and max 2 euro games and what 3 Scottish cup games if you get to final, when you talk about next season they ain't going to pay X amount of wages when they can save that to summer
