The SFA/SPFL (whoever is responsible) should be implementing a strict squad size with homegrown player quota. It is embarrassing that we can't fill a matchday squad in the champions league.

I really hope Murray is injured, because that mistake will haunt him for a long time if he isn't given the opportunity to make amends.

Using the third striker notion as an example, is the sort of game time we should realistically be affording some.

Maeda, Jota. Kuhn, Forrest.
Then a 5th should be used as rotation. It's currently Yang, by ideally should be a youth prospect coming through. That level of game time Yang is getting would be great for a youth talent.

But we need that sort of quality in depth to be able to then afford the proper game time to a youth talent.

Instead til this point we've had Palma and Yang more like stinking the place out and any youth talent needs to wait for them to * up/off.

Give me 22 players who have real quality in depth, then 3 youth talents a season who can actually then make a meaningful impact.

You get to a certain age where they have their contract running out, and then they have a decision to make. Do they stay and follow the example of a Callum McGregor, for example, trust the club, be patient and knowing that you might not be right ready at 17, 18, but you have to be a special talent to be.

“Can you just be patient and wait a little bit longer? Or do you do what a lot of players have done and take the opportunity at 18 to look elsewhere? So I think that's the situation that young Daniel is with his agents. We will just wait and see what happens

 

Agreed. I see nothing wrong with having 2 senior players for every position, then if you have injuries or loss of form, you can supplement the squad with youth.

As you say, there are always players that linger a little too long and take up a precious seat. So, even if we wanted to bring on a young player, we can't, because they aren't even on the bench.

The fact that Rodgers is pointing to McGregor as the role model is very telling. "Be patient like McGregor was"... over a decade ago.

My reading of those comments are he doesn't think Cummings is good enough right now, if he was he'd be involved.

 

Yeah but they are exceptionally talented players, being coached all the way through the worlds greatest football academy since they were about 6 and would have had experience of playing for Barcelona B in the Spanish 2nd division .

Ours are coached by Stephen McManus and play against Stirling uni in 5th tier of Scottish football.

Strange rejecting half a mill when he's already signed a pre contract and we have no plans for him whatsoever..

 

I could continue on for over 20+ teams who play players 16-18 years old. It’s all relative too, Barcelona play the most talented youngsters cos they have the best academy but our youngsters play for us because we have supposedly the best in this country. That means our youth should be able to come into the squad occasionally.

we’ve had many players we’ve all thought should play. Rodgers comments to me are just worrying for the future as it shows he doesn’t believe players that young deserve a chance
