If it has to be a loan player then it's even more pointless to take one without an option to buy. If it's been an impressive loan deal (CCV, Jota etc) to then have no option to make it permanent is just stupid.
You then have to go to the club. Who then inflate the price cause their player had impressed you and u want to keep them. They can charge crazy prices if it's not a set price in the option to buy.
Thats what happened with Norwich and Idah. He was good last season but not 9mil good...and a lot of folk questioned that price but we paid it

In the early 2000s there was a genuine application for the vacant manager's job at Hearts with the applicant's credentials being that he had won the Champions League with Hearts on Championship Manager.

That doesn't sound as ridiculous when you consider the Celtic old board's crazy idea when replacing Billy McNeil as manager the 2nd time.
    Identify targets? Nope
Any sort of vague idea of who would be suitable? Nope.
Thinking your smart and innovative by simply advertising the vacancy and inviting anyone and everyone to an interview at Celtic Park.....Oh Yes.... Who wants the job? Apply now.

They then settled on Liam Brady.
Zero managerial or even coaching experience. But a daft thing like that wasnt going to put us off. He had been a good player and he was Irish. That's all the qualifications he needed......Start on Monday

I'm sure we'd blow Celta Vigo out the water if it came down to Kvistgaarden.

I don't think it's a matter of a bidding war. We would win.
It's instead a matter of who is most willing to meet Brondby's asking price. Which is very different.

We are able to pay the asking price quite easily.
But the question is will we pay it if our money men feel we are being overcharged, or that the player is not worth the asking price.?

.....I.e if we feel that Brondby are ripping the * will we tell them to go * themselves? Or stretch to a higher figure than we feel the deal is worth just so we can get the player we want?

My feeling is that Lawell is aware that we got overcharged in the Idah deal by Norwich. He won't let this happen again and he'll walk away rather than pay too much. Just to make a point.

Since Idah has been told by Rodgers that he's #1 striker he's scored 3 in 2 games - including in Europe, and all have been great strikers goals... I know it's not a big patch to highlight, but if he maintained that form, or even something less but near, he'd be WELL WORTH what we paid for him...
