If it's the Kvistgaarden deal you are talking about....then I don't think it's a question of whether we can afford the fee....we can.....it's a question of are we getting the * ripped out of us price wise cause Brondby know we've got money?

A lot of people think we paid over the odds for Idah. Norwich definitely played hard ball and pushed the price up a couple of mil cause they knew we had cash and we wanted the player (he was also desperate to sign for us)

I don't think Lawell will allow clubs to constantly rip the * and quote over the odds. You get the feeling that he would rather walk away from a deal and leave us short in that position than constantly pay over the odds for players. If we remain in such a lucrative financial position then I'm afraid we'll have to just get used to teams chancing it and quoting us daft prices for players we want.

If it was say Arsenal or Liverpool that wanted him....you may find that Brondby would quote them double what they're quoting us. The price depends on who's buying

    That can work.
    But sometimes it doesn't.

Remember when we thought Hibs would cave in and sell us John McGinn for the reduced price we were offering? We called their bluff and they weren't bluffing.....Aston Villa paid the asking price and we lost out on the player

Brendan Rodgers DOES want another striker, there ARE good ones available and Celtic CAN afford to sign one on transfer Deadline Day.

The Parkhead boss emphatically answered three big transfer questions after his side beat Motherwell 3-1 at Fir Park, with attention now turning to the final day of the transfer window. After flogging Kyogo to Rennes for £10million last week, Rodgers has a space to fill in his squad up front. Adam Idah has stepped up to be first choice in the wake of Kyogo's departure and bagged a goal in Lanarkshire to put Celtic back in front.

But Rodgers doesn't want to go into the remainder of the season with just Daizen Maeda, Johnny Kenny and Daniel Cummings as back ups to the big Irishman. Record Sport revealed on Friday that Slovan Bratislava hitman David Strelec is one option Celtic are considering. And Rodgers has dismissed the notion that the winter window isn't the time to pick up quality, and confirmed that the champions have the cash to make deals happen

When asked by Sky Sports if a striker was his Deadline Day priority, Rodgers replied: "That is our plan. There's lots of work going on behind the scenes in order to do that so we're hopeful that we can. We want to have the strongest squad we possibly can. We've lost a couple of players that were important players for us but also players have gone out on loan so we know we want to get into the market to have the strongest squad we can to finish off the season.

It's always difficult (at this stage in the window) But there are good players available in January. There's always the mentality that you can't get good players but there is availability and we can afford it, so I'd like to think that we can do that

My concentration has just been on the games. We'll see where we're at by Monday evening. We want to, as a club, improve the squad and hopefully we can do that over the next 24 hours or so.

Dispels the board apologist narrative that it's difficult to sign players in January.

Yeah that comment also seemed like a dig at the board to say loosen the purse strings

They can't really stick with that after we sold Kyogo this month.

Obviously it's hear say but if the gap with us and brondby was £1.4m with the cash we have now wonder he is having a go

Still think that we need a striker and a winger in this window, be good to get players bedded in for next years qualifiers. If there was any chance to get Tierney in this window too then that would be a bonus. See how tomorrow pans out

To me his comments suggest he is quietly confident.

Maybe just seeing what I want to but that wee smirk was there...

I think if we are spending money on players then deal probably been kept very quiet away from media.

Loan deals can be sorted out alot quicker so could still be looking if it's a loan.

Maybe it's another striker we haven't even been linked with. Wouldn't surprise me

A permanent Striker and Winger with a loan LB, even if it's just a straight loan for 6 months, would turn this into an excellent window.

Potentially scouring the loan marker down south for players this late in window

The fact we haven't announced Tierney yet even as a pre contract surely suggests there's still a chance. Or we are waiting to do it tomorrow.

    LB
    ST
    Orjasater
    Miller

    And I'll implode.

I genuinely thought we would see something on the Norwegian winger today either way

Hoping a couple names drop tonight or here we are advanced with one of the names already floating about.

Maeda going CF and Scales LB made me wonder if that was us done but Rodgers comments seemed quite positive and I’ve believed all window we would do some decent business mainly on final day.

I agree, I think Rodgers reaction was quite telling and he clearly knows what's happening and obviously can't say anything. Definitely a few arrivals before tomorrow night.
