I wouldn't say people are delighted with mediocrity. I would say every fan I know wants us to improve and progress.

Aswell as the board not wanting to part with too much of their hard earned profit we have the problem of realistically who we can attract to sign for us.
To make a dent in the Champions League we need to attract top Champions League level players. There is a massive difference between the transfer fee and wage demands such a player would require...and what we can realistically afford (or are willing to spend).

The fact is that top Champions League players usually already play for Champions League clubs. The gulf is that big that we would have to play flat out to even compete with the 2nd string teams of say Barca, Bayern, Real Madrid.

This was evident the last time we played Bayern when they sent out a completely 2nd string side
at Parkhead....we played flat out and did compete....but still lost 1-2. I think any one of the top teams' 2nd string would make our first team no problem.

They probably get paid more than our top earner aswell

Jonny Kenny will have to fight for his place like everyone else.

Jonny Kenny isn't the answer either.

    Quite content saying that.

Sorry but scoring some goals against the likes of TNS, Larne and Borac doesn't mean you're suddenly chapping on the door to be Celtics first team striker.

He'll get his chance if he's good enough. I suspect he isn't, honestly, but time will tell.

If we come out of the window weaker, (we may not).. then the Head of Footballing Operations & our CEO would both take blame..

It's a joint effort and we fail it would show a lack of cohesion between Tisdale and Nicholson..

Tisdale isn't in charge of negotiation for sales though.

Aye, but it's difficult to know if the targets he's selecting are actually doable for us to get over the line.. and if they're not then that's a lack of a cohesive transfer strategy..

And if you look thus far, Jota ex-player, KT ex-player, and Iheanacho Rodgers link.. even Kvistgaarden has been on the radar well before he here..

So, there's nothing tangible from him at all up to now..

    Still time tho.

Agreed there, we DON'T know what's going on behind the scenes. We don't even know if he's actively involved in this transfer window planning - he may be dealing with other things or whatever at this time.

My point being, I don't find it will do any good to even start questioning this guy yet.

He was apparently involved in transfers in the summer, possibly Engels..

He should absolutely be involved in our transfer business this window, recruitment is a massive part of his role..
'In this new strategic role reporting to the Board, Paul will oversee the development and management of effective operations to support high-level football performance, including the identification and development of talent, in line with the club’s objective to develop Champions League players through our Academy and recruitment processes.'

Recruitment of players that can make an impact in the Champions League is the key, what we don't know is if he's identified and we won't pay for that talent..

I do agree it's very early, with him and Jan is difficult..

And let's judge when the window closes.

Aye he may very well be involved in recommending players etc, but he's not (that I'm aware) a part of the negotiations to sign players.

So, Head of Footballing Operations and CEO need be really cohesive in what they're doing in order to have successful transfer strategy.

Maybe they do, it's the first window they've really worked together ..

However for me Nicholson has done brilliantly to get Jota back, KT too.. (still hopeful we get him in before deadline) where as there's nothing yet that illustrates anything Tisdale has brought to the Club..

I won't be writing him off at the end of this window, regardless..

For me the window is what it is. I am going to see everyone point of view on it but you can see why everyone is saying why not spend the money.

I have said all this month we have (inc addon) brought in £65m in sales and spent £38m that's £27m added to £77m in bank you will then have a large trading profit from additional UCL revenue club will never overpay they claim and that's fine but I just wonder maybe do they feel the summer high value signings haven't hit the heights and wary of spending significantly again for brendan?

So Iheanacho and Orjasaeter might be it now.

If we get a LB on loan then I'll take that I suppose. Not convinced on the striker side of things but shall see.

Thought you said he was involved in the Engels transfer?

Again, I'm not really looking to much into Tisdale's role in this transfer window - I think he's took plenty on his plate that needs sorted in other aspects at the club.

Feel like we went from a potential best window in a while with jota tierney and kvistgaarden coming in as top targers to absolutely scrambling for a left back and striker.

Was absolutely irresponsible to let Valle and Kyogo go without their replacement being 100%

After such an optimistic and exciting start to window, it's deteriorating fast.
Loads of outgoings, almost zero incoming.
Peter will be happy wage bill reducing.

Brendan always says we should leave every window stronger than we started it.
As it stands, we certainly can't say that.

May have been involved in Engels transfer.. club said he was involved in transfer business in the summer.. so maybe Engels, Valle maybe Trusty tho Rodgers may have had knowledge of him..the others no..

What I mean, there's no evidence in this window with the targets thus far..

Also, his main role is identifying and recruiting players why are you so keen to give him a free pass this window? He was involved last window as an advisory role.. now has permanent role and your not bothered, doesn't make any sense mate..

Because I'm not assuming anything. What ive said is I wont hold it against him if the likes of the Kvistgaarden - we make an offer and it doesn't go through. He's not part of the negotiating teams - he's there PARTLY to make recommendations on players and find talent. Unless someone says - oh weve signed this guy and it was down to Tisdale (which isn't going to happen, same with scouts).

Aye, so that's why I said if and it's still a big if.. we come out of this window weaker the CEO & Head of Footballing Operations share the blame.. because it is in both their remits..
