Will say, even if he did sign and do well, it's a pretty damning indictment of our recruitment, would be saying the same if it was Daka that signed.

We should have a proper scouting system that allows us to scout multiple targets, not relying on players the manager was with previously. We were linked with Kvistgaarden nearly 2 years ago as well. Jota, on paper, is an excellent signing but again, he played for us previous.

Let's see what happens either way.

    He's not a goalscorer.

Just because he played at a high level doesn't mean it suddenly transfers to him scoring for fun up here as the old phrase goes.

It might. But I can only judge on what I've seen and I'd actually counter what others have said in the previous page by saying I'm surprised how good people think he is/was.

All about opinions I suppose. If it's true the bigger picture is probably what's more concerning me, scouting wise.

Would rather we showed a bit more ambition and asked rhe question of Patson Daka. He's at least shown to be prolific at some stage of his career and showed up better in fhe championship for Leicester than Iheanacho.

Jota is 25 and a proven quantity here.. Iheanacho is 28 and instead of reaching his peak years has been on a rapid downslope.

Not to mention we're bringing him in as a replacement for our longterm first choice ST.

Jota left here 18 months ago.

Iheanacho hasn't scored more than 5 league goals in a season since the Covid season 4/5 years go. In fact he'* more than 5 league goals twice in his career. The other time being 8/9 years ago.

There's no two ways about it. It's uninspiring.

I actually almost put, that Jota hadn't done much in the last couple of years either.. but it's not actually a viable comparison when you delve into it..

There’s 3 years between them mate no 10, he’s in his prime age wise.

Many international and European goals does Kvistgaarden have?

I’ll accept the managers POV over anyone’s when it comes to a player he managed for as long as he did…

There’s far more nuance, I get that, but that works both ways. Does he like Spain? Does he suit Sevilla’s style of play? Does he not get on with the manager?

We know what this guy is capable of because we all seen him on MOTD for Man City and Leicester. He’s 28 so there’s no reason with a bit of love he can’t recapture that form.

Might be in the minority here, but anytime I’ve seen him he’s looked a player… granted it’s been a while since I’ve seen him play now to be fair.

Having spent 9 mill on idah, a player I can never ever see being first choice for us leaves us with little room to get kyogos replacement wrong.

People said the exact same thing about Schmeichel in the summer. Surely we should have proper scouting. This is lazy and BR reaching into his contact book. He has been poor the last few years. Been our best signing

Excellent point, almost identical situations just a different area of the park. Plus Kelechi should be in his physical prime into the bargain whereas Kasper will have a couple of years max in him left.

Aye, Schmeichel who was one of the best EPL GKs for most of the last decade.

And Iheanacho who's had one decent season in the last 5 years.. a striker who seemingly doesn't score goals.

    Schmeichel has always had quality.

At one stage the best GK in Europe for me or at least top 3. I think it's different and can see why people are uncertain on this one more so.

What I will say is if it's a 6 month loan with option we at least get a look at him, but at the end of it are we gonna spend say £8-10m on a soon to be 29 year old striker on a high wage...I'd say no.

This just reeks of 2 days before rhe window shuts...not getting anywhere with main targets so brendan can we use your phone book. For me that's a concern. Aye it was fine with Schmeichel but I had hoped we'd have more options. Hopefully we do.

If this is who we get then fine.

January is notoriously hard to do deals. Same as last season woth Idah, we'll only have him for more than 4 months if he's really good for us.

Then, if he isn't we'll reassess in the summer. Not panicking

For the stat lovers and those trying to manipulate numbers to suit a POV - he’s a 1 in 3 striker there or thereabouts at a much higher level than we compete at weekly.

He’s also got 14 G/A in 26 European appearances, for comparison Kyogo had 9 in 24…

    Wholly uninspiring right enough.

Think it would be ok for 6 months , better option that idah ,

think people looking at his stats have to remember that vardy was the main man at Leicester , so a lot of his games will have been from the bench or playing off the striker

    What form though?

He's only scored more than 5 goals twice in his career. No being smarmy, but the player I remember from MOTD is the one who scored once in 30 games in 2019.

What I would say again, though, to play devil's advocate, his best season in his career came under Rodgers. 19 in 35 games I think.
