Would be good to get that other centre back from the youth team out on loan, Agbaire. Wonder if Queens Park would take him since Murray is coming back here.

maybe a Dane Murray or someone?

Well, we've brought Dane back for that purpose.

He's a young player that I really thought highly of. The bits I've seen of him, he obviously had horrendous spell of injuries and we sent him to Queen's Park, where Callum and his team and the club done a brilliant job with him to ease him. After a long injury period out, where he virtually trained every day and got really good coaching and was at a fantastic club there.

So the whole idea then was to bring him back. Stephen's a player that's pretty much been a part of the fabric of this club for so many years. He's one of the guys that helps create the culture because they've come through the system.

But there also comes a time when they need to look at their own career. So there's a possibility that he'll go out doing the loan. It's not confirmed yet, but for him to go out and Dane come back, it's quite an easy transition really.

The changes you made in the game, there were young players. Is that something you could maybe see a wee bit more of between now and the end of the season, some youth players getting a chance?

Youth players will always get the chance from me if they're good enough. You know, the pathway is not meant to be easy.

Just because you're a youth player at Celtic, it doesn't mean then you go and play for the first team. It means you've got to earn the right.

Dane Murray is a player I really like. I've seen him play here early on in his career and then he had a horrendous injury that's put him out for a long time. He's come back, you can see the work he's done. He's 6'4", he's big, he's got good pace, he can play.

I wanted to stick him on the other night because the things I've been telling him in order to be a top player, because he's a great big guy, he's a nice big guy. You step on the pitch, you've got to be aggressive. And sometimes you don't understand that until you experience it.

So to stick him on for 15-20 minutes, to get bashed up a bit and make a mistake, that's a part of your learning. Because you can play relaxed, or you can look relaxed, but you can't play relaxed. But I think if he can really make that mindset step, then he could be a really good player for us.

So that possibility to stick him on there. His skills were cramped, he'd obviously not played for a wee while. So we had to make those changes, Daniel coming on, Adam had run his race, done great for us.

I always say the same thing, if the young players are good enough and they have the right mentality, there'll always be an opportunity of playing him

Thought that was * from Rodgers to bring him on in a game of that level and he struggled. Didn’t seem to be an injury either.

Boy is probably doubting his ability now.

From turning out on loan for queens park to his debut in Champions League there was a gap of about two weeks, shows how threadbare we are in some positions.

Well done though Dane Murray, I hope you have a bright future in Glasgows East End

Rodgers did the same in his first spell, throwing a young Ralston under the juggernaut of naymar and Barcelona, in Barcelona, bhoy got mauled in what I think was his Celtic debut but got into naymars face a few times

I’m sure I seen comments this week that Rodgers rates him

He clearly does, he came on the other night infront of a guy he’d signed for £4m in Nawrocki, he recalled him early from his loan, and that was the reason he was happy to let Welsh go.

If he didn’t rate him, Welsh would stay on our bench for the emergency option, because Rodgers clearly trusted him to an extent as well.

I wonder if he put him on against Villa to show the lad what the required standard is. As in this is the kind of pace, power and tempo you need to be able to handle as a Celtic player. It's up to Murray how he reacts. Train harder and show determination and dedication to become the best he can be, or lose confidence and go into his shell.

Feel like he's just gonna do down the route of Welsh.

Early doors never really looked like he did anything wrong but through stagnating in reserves/bench and only being used during injury issues which coincides with high profile games, fans won't take to him after a while.

There he’s not even on the bench today in favour of Nawsrocki… I’d rather we had a clear pecking order between them.

Played well albeit he didn't really have much to do. Plays a nice pass and good in the air. Didn't look slow either.

He's better than Welsh, and I know that is not saying much, but he looks more dependable and assured.
His loan spell at Queens Park helped him too.

The young lad did well, hopefully he will get some game time in the league against better players for his development.

I like him, if we get another home tie next round I wouldn't be against playing him again.
