Still only 29! VVD becomes a free agent this summer as well. Bring them home. :84:

I’d take him. CCV, Trusty, Denayer and Scales would give us solid options.

One of my favourite pairings at the back him and Van Dijk. Wonder if he’s still got the quality?

I think Devlin said it best when he commented that having those 2 together in domestic games was like giving Ronny a cheat code for the SPL. Something like that, anyway. @Liam Scales am I remembering right?

See the St Johnstone game Van Dijk skint the full pitch and scored to win 1-0?

Always remember we struggled that much that game because Tommy Wright set them up, man marking Van Dijk and Denayer. And it was working but doesn’t account for Van Dijk being that much better and doing what he done. I have never witnessed any other game that the two CB’s are the main focus to stop a team playing. Actually funny

Even though I said this many, many times with Jota and was * wrong, I’m feeling confident saying Denayer won’t be back here.

I would love it but. Him and CCV together man.

Bring him back for remainder of season, see how it goes and maybe extend his contract

Doesn't anyone remember how dreadful he was with ball at his feet?
Wouldn't have him back as he's not better than current CB's.

Guy was quality. Not sure where he is at moment and guess there maybe still a bit of snobbery with him after his previous saying seemingly.

But if his wages weren't too high and there was a change I'd defo go for.

I always felt VVD made him look better than he was, but that's not to say he wasn't good.

Think alongside a good partner he will perform well, with CCV he would do very well.

Still only 29! Maybe worth a short term deal for the remainder of the season and then agree a 2-3 year deal after that if it suits both sides?

He'd be the experienced head we would and could really do with and along with trusty and Scales, that's a 4 that is decent again.

Jason Denayer did it last year and he did very well.
"I spoke to him and he said it was a very, very good club. So I was happy with what he said and I was really excited.
"He said he never wanted to leave. He enjoyed it so much he kept bragging on about it every time I asked him.”

There was genuine debate on here about who you’d rather keep between him and Virgil at the time. He was excellent. I also remember comments saying “one day we will look back and think how on earth did we have Denayer and Van Dijk at the same time”

Strange seeing comments now that he wasn’t that good. He absolutely was and he proved it by becoming a mainstay at Galatasaray and Lyon and winning a big money move to Saudi. Would be amazing to get him back but obviously unlikely.
