You are preaching to the converted. It's the elephant in room mate, been saying it for ages.
You could drive a train through our midfield, and we don't have any tacklers on the books.

You would have thought the last two Hun games would have underscored that point.
It's no use signing the Finbogassans and Kvistgaarden's of this world, when your midfield is like a sieve.

Gotta say I thought Morgan Rogers was a good player before tonight but wow he's their main man.

Glad we put a good effort in but we all knew that XI before kick off was weak. It showed as the game went on. A good effort by those that played but we're desperate for a few upgrades in this side now.

Watching Villa go out will be extremely pleasurable. Used to no mind them but the way they’ve treated Celtic and our support? * them

Same. Literally said it every single window for as long as I can remember but it never happens.

    Kasper
    AJ CCV CB KT
    CDM
    Engels Hatate
    Kuhn Kvistgaarden Maeda
    Jota
    Orjasaeter
    Idah
    McGregor
    Taylor
    Trusty
    Bernardo
    McCowan
    Ralston
    Forrest
    Sinisalo

... Is the type of squad we should be aspiring for on CL match days.

They use that semi-automated VAR offside technology in the CL. I don't see it being offside mate.

Got to take your word for it because I never saw the game myself. Clutching at straws I know. :giggle1:

But I find it a tad unfair we have been landed with either Bayern or Real.
But hey ho, we have made a ton of money this Champions League campaign, and the new format is really exciting.
    See what happens.

    Edit. Wrong thread :giggle1:

JuSt sign a * defensive mid who can tackle ffs.

How long will we keep ignoring this big huge gaping * in our midfield that says "come on ahead, run a train right through us".

That wee 4th goal at the end is annoying me, didn’t need to happen and 3-2 would’ve been a totally respectable score line to come away with.

Bold to assume our big defending * midfielder isn’t going to be standing on the wing or next to Idah mate.

Not sure if Hatate was actually playing up front, Engels old school RM

4-2 flattered us as well if we’re honest. Makes no real difference except a sting to the pride. 3-2 looking better, but really it means nothing.

Defo annoying right enough, why does 4-2 seem a pumping and 3-2 hard luck :56:

I thought we were very poor, tbh.

Good character to come back from 2-0, but tactically we were all over the place, physically we were 2nd best, and they appeared to want it more. There’s also small matter of the gaping hole in our midfield that has been there for years at this level, with a few exceptions.

Cab cut us some slack for being without CCV and Maeda, but disappointed with how we performed.

I'm very disappointed by the fourth goal. We don't seem to learn that failing to clear our lines is very dangerous.

I think there are a few glaring issues we have at this level. Our back 4 without CCV is probably mid level English championship level, just miles off where we need to be. Our shape seems to be OK for periods then just falls to bits. We don't have a natural defensive midfielder. Ultimately player for player we aren't at villa level - Scales, Taylor, Trusty, Yang, Palma, probably Hatate, just not close to top end champions league level.

Few Positives as well. Heads didn't go down and we showed discipline to get back into the game. Idah finally showed up and this could be a real turning point for him. And it was a dead rubber for us given we did the hard work in previous games. Finishing where we did still represents progress and far richer clubs finished on similar points.

We are heading in the right direction. Just not there yet

None of our players can be labelled top end CL. Unsure outwith Watkins and Martinez if any of Villa’s can either

Too many young and inexperienced players in this squad, time and time again we drop clangers
At this level, same in the SPL

For all the big signings we have we seem to offset them with dross

    sort it out Celtic
