Worth mentioning, thought we felt like a proper Champions League team tonight.

Up against one of the top 8 on their own patch and we're stamping our authority on the game before half-time. Scoring two goals and having all of the momentum heading into half-time.

Big improvements to be made but we're massively holding our own at this level.

Thats a game for me that shows just how badly we need a big imposing holding midfielder.

 

Spare a thought for Dinamo Zagreb. Pumped 9-2 by Bayern and fought valiantly to earn 11 points only to miss out on goal difference. The Opta predictor had 11 points being enough with 99+% certainty. 10 points was the target we all spoke about before the compaign began. Thank * we scored that winner against Young Boys.

Can't remember it specifically, but there was at least 3 times we were at close quarters, their player falls over looking for a foul and gets it instantly. Unbelievable.

 

Still no idea what Scales was doing that far up pitch for their 3rd goal - inevitably we were exposed and they scored

Tactically I know we got exposed, when we committed a high press.

Equally though, when sat in deep from 55-70 mins, it just looked inevitable Villa would break through at some point.

Just shows at this level, you have to do all aspects of the game superbly

Despite the joy of 2 quick goals from Idah, Villa sadly were the better team tonight across most areas of the game

 

Was like the pen we got at Dundee.....except on the deck. I thought it was a great tackle...but took the man first and was a penalty. Didn't need to go to ground

 

yet somehow the wee man preferred a relegation battle in Francais

 

Absolutely codding ourselves if we don’t get in a big, strong, dominant midfield bulldog.

 

Lots of positives despite the defeat for me… gave a top 8 CL team a * of a game with a depleted team.


Some more depth in key areas could make us some team. Lots of promising signs.

 

Surely to * boys aren’t complaining about young players being brought on? Idah was cunted and we had no other striker. Scales must have needed to come off as well. Who else do we bring on? Nawrocki?

 

Im sure he’ll be on but Watkins goal looked very tight any lines picture?

Also looked like a potential handball in their box just before it.

 

Scored 2 in a.place not one team has scored at this season in the CL.

Obviously Villa deserved the win but after coming back from 2 goals down, to not show up in second half is gutting. But Rodgers needs to address the issue when we press up high & lose the ball other team are in on goal from a pass at times, our whole midfield seems non existent.
