I honestly think people have the wrong idea about the type of player he is from the fact that he's from Benfica. He's a workhorse IMO. He has the potential to be a very good workhorse because of his awareness and there's definitely a role for him in our squad; but he doesn't have the technique to be a Hatate or an Engels or the technical tidiness, close control and passing weight to be a McGregor.

If you look at him that way, he's quite a decent player. It's just that he's not the guy you want to bring on when you're 3-2 down against Aston Villa or if you're being passed to death by a superior team like Bayern or Real in the next round. He's the guy you want if the midfield is a physical battle and you want to regain control so your better players can get the ball and play (e.g. the last Scottish Cup Final).

RM and Bayern is decided on away goals scored then it would be total wins then total away wins. I assume RM are above Bayern as that's how they've got the table. So we'll have Bayern.

He’s never up to this level.

 

With the exception of the first goal I don’t think Taylor got forward all night.

 

I dont think we are buying a player or two or three thats going to make this team be able to go toe to toe and win against Villa level opponents away. We can bring in a CDM or buy and better CB than Scales etc. Wont change the result unless we are smarter in how we approach the game and defend as a unit.

 

I think there’s a “mini draw” to decide between Real Madrid/Bayern and us/City

 

Barcelona couldn’t beat Atlanta at home, Zagreb beat ac Milan, there really are no mugs in the champions league so to get 12 points is excellent, bit gutted with the second half, but if someone told me after 5 minutes we would only lose by 2 goals id have been delighted

We got a favorable group and done well but i guess its coming to an end in the next round,no shame there,facts are at this stage we are out of our depth.

One thing that annoys me when we play in Europe is how we play around at the back,ye we can do it in the league against poor teams but when it comes to Europe the pace is a lot faster and the opposition a lot better and we seem to get caught out so many times.

I can't agree, mate. Looking at that table, there are definitely teams in that playoff we might have had a chance against with the right signings and everyone fit. Unfortunately, I don't think Bayern are one of them and I'm certain that Real aren't.

 

It's the Champions League and we are there to compete against the very top teams like Real Madrid and Bayern Munich.....there is no point in trying to avoid them.
