Trusty and Scales against Watkins and Duran.. Their midfield is going to outmuscle us in their sleep too. Idah up front for us too. Going to be painful. Just hoping it's not another Dortmund.

Yeah I'm a bit perplexed at some attitudes going into this game.

Phrases like "free hit" and "meaningless fixture" don't sit well. This is our first game against EPL opposition in how long? It's still a competitive fixture that means something. I'm pretty sure it could affect seeding too?

We were absolutely buzzing to beat Man City and Chelsea in pre season, but this doesn't matter? Not having that. If we get thrashed and humiliated I guarantee it will matter to the players and fans. A pumping is not good for team morale, belief and confidence.

This is an opportunity for us to show what we've got against an 'top' English team. We should be trying to win this. But I fear we've waved the white flag already by resting CCV and offloading Kyogo and Valle before the fixture.

I’ve done the simulators a few times trying out different variations results in each match, but the most consistent information is that if we lose, and Bayern and Real win their matches, we’ll end up being drawn against one of those two!

Surprised at some of the negativity on here.

Rexkon we’ll equip ourselves well tonight. Disappointing to be without Kyogo and Maeda, but reckon we’ll compete.

Apparently it's pretty impossible for us to qualify for the top 8 so it's just down to pride and dosh and doing the English lol

Think Brendan learned quickly from Dortmund, we can't go toe to toe with the better teams away. It'll take another disciplined performance like in Bergamo to get something.

    Yeah but its not impossible.

We can finish in the top 8...Winning this game of course then hoping many results go your way. Like many other teams are hoping results go their way.

So i don't understand people saying this is pointless and dead rubber.......A win gives more money as well.....even a draw gives us decent money.

0-1 away win gives us dosh and then lets see how all other results go.

Strangers things have happened in the last games of tournaments....We have seen teams like Barca and Real getting beaten off minnows.

    Highly unlikely but not impossible.

Where is all this weirdness coming from?

I don't pay attention to the EPL much but Villa never struck me as a particular 'hunnish' club for lack of a better word. Very few emglish clubs seem to have any real culture around their team in general. Has Birmingham suddenly become a hot bed of angry right wingers, or is it the Birmingham bombing thing that's made people get wound up? I don't get it

Makes you feel better if you say it's a dead rubber and go onto lose. However, losing may just give us a better draw. It's brilliant how it's the last game and still everyone's got something to play for.
