The 21-year-old had a stellar career in the Eliteserien last year, occasionally wreaking havoc on opponents.

It has attracted great interest among foreign suitors, and now it is about to materialize, according to TV 2's information


According to what TV 2 has learned, the Scottish giants Celtic have announced that they want to secure Sondre Ørjasæter in this transfer window.

– There has been interest in Sondre throughout this transfer window, but from experience it is only in the last days of the transfer window that things really happen. So we will see what happens, says Sarpsborg sports director Hampus Andersson to TV 2.


The international transfer window closes on February 3, which means that a sale of Ørjasæter must be completed within a short time.

– Our basic attitude is that we want to keep Sondre as long as possible, says Andersson


It is expected that Sarpsborg 08 will demand a package of over one hundred million kroner for Ørjasæter.

Hampus Andersson does not want to comment on which clubs have shown interest in Ørjasæter. And although he says that a sale is not very close, TV 2 knows that Celtic's interest is very concrete


But for now, Sarpsborg 08 will sell itself dearly.

– Sondre is important to us – it's almost like people have season tickets just to see Sondre, says Andersson.

Sondre Ørjasæter joined Sarpsborg 08 ahead of last season from Sogndal. At the time, Sarpsborg 08 paid around 7-8 million kroner for the winger.

After a season in the Eliteserien, his market value has skyrocketed, and now there are many indications that Sarpsborg 08 will collect another huge sale

Sky Sports News revealed earlier this month that the Hoops have been in talks with the Norwegian club over a potential deal for the 21-year-old.

It’s understood Sarpsborg have been looking for a fee of around £7m, with Fiorentina, Parma and Nice also registering their interest.

Orjasaeter has two years left on his current contract.

Celtic want to get a deal done before next week’s transfer deadline as they look to strengthen their options in the wide areas and find possible long term replacements for Luis Palma and James Forrest

After the qualifiers if he is to leave. Hopefully get another season out of him after this

 

The board are maybe finally realising the riches on offer with this new champions league, build from a position of strength. We will have a qualifier to get through next season

 

Is he a RW?

 

I think this was our back up if we couldnt bring Jota in. Would be happy if im wrong though. Makes sense though as we are light on the RW position. The guy can apparently play on both sides.

 

In recent seasons when a transfer story has come out that was accurate it tended to be the press based where the selling club were that have been the most accurate. Obvious exceptions like Turkey etc but in the most part.

Mind you the Brazilian press seemed wild on the Bernabei story and the Korean media were also pretty wild with all their “love calls” chat.

I do think there is something in this one.

I'm happy that we've made a bid, but I'm getting worried about the striker situation now. Kvistgaarden seems less likely every day. I just can't see us bringing in Jota, Orjasaeter, Tierney and a striker this window. That would be magnificent but it's highly doubtful.

With Kyogo literally out the door, surely a striker has to be the priority? Not having the "Maeda can play there" chat. I'm not fond of moving him away from a position where he's been excellent for us to one that he's barely played in his time here. Plus Jota will take a while to get back up to speed and doesn't offer the defensive work of Maeda.

Again I'm not complaining about this, I actually want Orjasaeter. But another winger isn't the priority when we've just sold our best striker. Of course this post is null and void if we bring in a proper replacement for Kyogo...

 

Was not expecting this at all. We were very close to getting this over the line about a week ago, but I thought it had been shelved in favour of Jota.

This would be a major departure from our club’s normal transfer habits.

 

Supposedly trying to put Yang out on loan

 

Rodgers has literally said he wants to sign a striker before the deadline , when it was suggested to him Maeda will play through the middle . Maybe the board will let him down but he's stated his intention very clearly and I would be surprised if we don't. Can see it being a loan right enough.

 

Jota Maeda Kuhn Orjasaeter wing options ooft yes please. Upgrading from Yang and Palma to Jota and this guy looks excellent on paper. Don’t know anything about him but clearly quite highly rated.

Maybe Rodgers will keep Yang around as a fifth choice as Forrest’s days are winding down. Looks good to me though. If we get this guy, a striker and Tierney in before deadline day my head may well explode

 

Strength in depth when you replace Yang and Palma for Sondre and Jota , Velle for KT. Just need that striker in to replace Kyogo.
