Maybe then we'd get a loan to buy striker in. Rodgers has already confirmed we'll be getting a striker and that Maeda isn't seen as a Kyogo replacement..

Would be delighted with Orjasaeter in. Gives us real options and a succession plan for any sales in the summer..

Rodgers used to like a number 10 type. Jota I feel could do that role behind a striker. Imagine Kuhn, Jota, Orjasaeter as our attacking 3 behind a striker and KT and Johnston bombing on as fullbacks..

 

Fits in with us simultaneously targeting Jota and bidding for Barry.

We have brought in apparently £15m to £16m and by all accounts spent £6m to £7m

Thats added to a surplus of around £20m from summer window time you add on addons.

I thought maybe Barry as a striker (although I know he's playing predominantly off the wing just now) but looks like you're right..

Most felt we needed a couple of wingers anyway before the window opened..

 

Always got the vibe we wanted 2 wingers, striker and Tierney.

 

Bringing in another left winger for a big fee would make me nervous that Daizen will be leaving this window or next. (Sorry for the downer).

If the KT deal isn’t happening (This window) this makes perfect sense but it should be done alongside a CF. Then that’s our 3 for the CL quota.

More likely Kuhn than Maeda

 

See I'm not sure about that. Maeda is older (27) and has been here 3 years now. Kuhn hasn't been making any noises about moving - he always says he's happy here. Maybe we told him we expect 2.5 years out of him before selling.

And if we get this boy we'll have 3 players who predominantly play left wing. Remember Rodgers likes wingers that cut in onto their stronger foot to shoot - Jota is right footed (admittedly good with his left too).

 

Apparently the guy reporting this broke the Holm story to us first..

 

I wouldn't mind another winger over a striker, if that's the case. Idah needs to show his worth in the next few months and Maeda would do fine if needed as well.

Most of our play is aimed down the wings so strength in depth is required. Wonder if Yang will be away before the end of the window as well as Palma.

 

I think we will loan a striker, not sure if it will be a loan to buy or not but suspect a loan of some sorts. When I was talking about Maeda through the middle, I just meant it becomes a more viable option if we have Jota, Kuhn and Orjasaeter as wide options where as before your then talking Palma or Yang playing if Maeda is down the middle.

I also agree on Forrest he will, when fit I believe largely be last half an hour or so of games and being kept around for his experience.

 

It could be the end of an era with the Japanese Bhoys. I wouldn’t be surprised to see the remaining ones go in the summer.

Signing this guy is maybe to replace Meada or we see him play CF. Khuns replacement will most likely be Left footed because that’s Rodger’s style.

 

Maeda through the middle 100 percent of this goes through, their thinking will be it will increase the chances of us getting a really good fee for him . The goals he will score added to the 15 or so he's already got could see him fetch a pretty penny in the summer or beyond.

 

By the summer window it's almost guaranteed that both Palma and Yang will be gone.

Forrest is getting older, and it's not guaranteed Kuhn stays past the summer.

Another winger is needed.

 

Rodgers has stated (earlier this week) he wants another striker.

This deal would have been in the offing before then.
