I think it’s more that we move deals so far along with multiple targets and then decide which one to (attempt to) pull the trigger on. I don’t think it’s that this lad is further down the list than say Barry, Moro or Traore. Even Jota.

I’ve said it before, but there are so many moving pieces in transfers that we can’t afford to lodge a bid on one player, spend time negotiating, see it fall through and then try and move for an alternative. Dare I say it; we seem to actually be proactive these days.

We’ve had two offers rejected for this lad (neither anywhere close to the £7m mentioned above), so we’re certainly showing interest.

    Even if we are not

    Jota
    Kuhn
    Meada

that isn’t depth enough. Any other winger on the books isn’t good enough or is too old

I'm not denying we need another winger but I would have thought a striker is more urgent. Unless we are planning on going with Maeda through the middle after all

Good to see us being proactive, reckon Kuhn will be away in the summer

And just having better quality in depth right now, Palma contributed some goals and assists last season but he's clearly not the answer, and Yang is a trier but the quality really isn't there, the drop off to them from Maeda and Kuhn hugely noticeable. Now that's we've added Jota, if we bring in someone like this lad, it's proper rotation options with room to improve and develop still, if this happens and we get a good striker in it's one of the best windows in a long time for improving the actual quality of the squad, not just bringing in bodies to fill a place.

Quite possibly that too in the summer at least hopefully.

Although having Maeda freed up to be a centre forward option until the summer may not be a bad thing. We will definitely bring one in but sounding like it will be a loan signing until the summer. Then you bring in your new striker and Kuhn goes, we are still covered on the wings. (All in theory off course).

TBH I do think we need two wingers regardless of the striker situation.

The confusing part is this guy is a left wing predominantly as is Jota (at his best there) and you'd imagine we wouldn't pay 8m for him to back up Kuhn.

It may be prep for the latter leaving after all.

Think this means Maeda through the middle, if true.
