Takes us days to get anything over the line from when the first proper reliable source has us approaching/in talks. So if this does happen I’d expect it to be deadline day or day before.

I think McGowan reported we are interested so I believe we are but just waiting on him or someone similar to confirm we are making an approach before getting my hopes up.

 

All the articles are saying how we are "expected" to make our move, any minute, any second now...but nothing concrete reported. I fear we are merely...monitoring the situation.

 

I actually think we'd be more attractive than Ajax currently, they are doing good this season but have been abysmal for a while, he'd be competing with Brobbey and Akpom too whereas he's first choice for us almost instantly.

We do need to actually bid first mind you.

 

Ajax paid about £19M for big bad Bassey . Seriously though Ajax have signed some real duds these last few years. Not saying Kvistgaarden is one btw. Bottom line is we'll know how highly we rate the player and how much we're prepared to pay. If Brondby want more then we'll have to look elsewhere.

In the last few years I'm not so sure. Since Overmars left they haven't been the same.

 

They seem to have changed the way they recruit since he left. Some of their signings have been bizarre. Think the manager, is it Farioli, has kinda tried to get them back to where they were before with recruitment.

Crazy that they’re struggling financially though. Especially when you see their sales over the years.

 

It’s funny how many of our fans (and football fans generally) belittle and downright slate the media for 10 months of the year, but in January and August hang on their every word.

People like Anthony Joseph don’t have a clue what’s going on. Even McGowan doesn’t get a peep from the club until the club want a story out there. Most journalists don’t want to sour relationships with potential “sources” so they regurgitate the same clickbait over and over again, which really says nothing.

In a lot of transfer dealings, a formal bid is never actually put in until very late in the timeline. In others, clubs are less forthcoming in exactly what they’re willing to accept and therefore bids go in earlier to test the water or try and bring the price down. Us “being expected” to launch a bid could be our tenth bid for all the journalists know, or could be us formally putting in writing an offer for the first time, the details of which were already agreed weeks ago.
