Obviously, we saw Adam (Idah), and how lifted he was by his role on the goal the other night as well. Do you think maybe having this extra responsibility for the next while will bring him on as well and help him?

I think with Adam, like it is with every other player, we have to offer the time, the patience, the support. And we know the talent's there. He's already shown that in his time here. But yeah, you get through a run of games, and you don't quite score. But I think his impact and run - that's why I think we look for more than one quality striker.

You need to be able to change up the game in the modern game now isn’t about the starting 11 and them playing the whole 90 minutes - Especially with the number of games that we play. I thought the first half of the other night, we were very, very good in the game, then we probably tired a little bit in the second half. Naturally, with so many games that we're playing, plus the likes of Young Boys who had three, or four weeks off. So they come into it a little bit in the second half.

But that possibility to change the squad and have quality players on the side, to bring them in - that gives us the opportunity to get that winning goal.

Strikers will always want to score goals. But for me, it's always about the collective. Obviously, if Kyogo ends up finishing his deal, we'll have to look to bring in another quality player in that position

Here's hoping the involvement in the goal gives him a boost in confidence. While there's no clear successor to Kyogo, he has time to make his mark.

Well he will certainly be starting on Saturday and next week in Birmingham. So lets hope he can build on the YB Berne cameo and get himself a goal or 2 tomorrow.

Even when we do an another ST, it's a massive opportunity for Idah.. he found it difficult in Kyogo's shadow, as did Giakoumakis..

He needs to be saying I'm the man now and show it on the park.

Definitely this! 100% fill your boots moment for him... If he can't even hold the spot now then he's in real trouble

For all Saturday’s game being off probably benefits the vast majority of the squad, it’s a sore one for Idah. He’d have been on a high coming off of Tuesday and likely buzzing to take his big chance with two hands, then it’s taken away from him. Wednesday’s game will be a very different challenge for him.

100%. He showed last season he has something about him, and we have spent big on him. He hasn’t looked anything close to last season up until now though, but he has been very much in and out the team. He will get a proper chance now with a run of games you would imagine, he needs a few goals to get the confidence back. It’s far too early for us to writing off £9.5m though.

craig leviene * you too !! thought this was villa game thread .for that particular game and the options we have available idah wouldnt be in my thoughts until late on.the crosses have not been coming into the box anyway ,idah's hold up play aint great . each of mccowan, bernardo and hatate making runs into the box should be enough attacking intent for an away game in europe

I thought something similar a few weeks ago. Any midfielder thats decent at making runs into the box would probably be as useful as any of our lone strikers at times. Plus, it would give us an extra body in the middle of the park.

Idah turning in decent performances, where he comes back deeper and links the play would be better though obviously.

see if maeda was available ,would be all on for idah starting (which he will) , i dont think hes gonna be provided with enough service to get him involvded enough . we need to make it difficult as * for the opposition to play through us away days in europe first and foemost, think in this case trying to smother the midfield for 70-75 min then try and sneak something

He is never good enough to be our number one striker. I don't think he has the footballing intelligence. A good option for sure but not for me someone who will be the main man. We will bring in a striker by all accounts and Kvistgarden is one we gave had eyes on for quite a while.

Won’t be overly harsh on him on Wednesday but he will need to play his part if we are to have any chance of a result.

He is going to Motherwell though on Sunday, somewhere he had one of his best performance for us last year getting two very good goals in our comeback win. Hopefully he can lead the line there get a goal and kick on from there.
