It sounds like the failed medical stuff is nonsense. But if it isn't, and he does have to come back here, I'd hope it motivated him to refocus on doing well for Celtic and proving Rennes wrong.

I blame Rodgers for not getting the best out of him. The runs he makes are lethal and we had no one and were not set up to find them. I know he's missed a lot of chances recently, but we're going to miss him big time.

We absolutely need to sign another striker, because Idah is not it.

Always hated that * moriyasu , it was always going to end like this when he was getting needlessly overlooked. I hope kyogo doesn't regret moving on, wish he could have stayed here a lot longer. I doubt we will replace him for a long time.

He suited Anges style of play more than Rodgers I think. More direct and quicker balls into the box , nonetheless as others gave said, he's has plenty time to adapt, sad to see him go but we get good money for him so ends well for both parties.

You've kind of contradicted yourself a bit.

You blame the manager for not getting the best out of him or noting his movement but in the next line acknowledge how he's missed a load of chances? It's not just recently either. He's been off the boil for some time.

He's scored 6 goals in the last 24 games. Yet noone seems to have really bothered to critique what HE might be doing wrong. His record away from home for us has been poor for about 2 years. There's elements of the style not being as suited, but it isn't the single reason for his drop off, not a chance. He also hasn't been helped by losing Jota and Abada either side. Kuhn and Maeda are both very different to the former two and you can actually see Kyogo getting visibly frustrated at Kuhn being quire greedy at times. He hasn't formed the same relationship as he did with Jota, for instance. That isn't really Rodgers fault.

It seems like yet another stick people want to use to beat Rodgers with, though. Any excuse, I suppose.

    Agreed.

I think the loss of both Jota and Abada had a negative effect on his returns.

I also think Rodgers hasnt done himself any favors in terms of his publicly "shaming" kyogo. Some players might take that on the chin. Others might take it to heart. Then theres a few who would be genuinely insulted it. Irish culture and Japanese are as far apart, in terms of public openness of opinion, as you could get. Having lived in Japan im quite certain Kyogo would've saw that as very disrespectful. If not outright insulting.

It wouldnt denote a fallout. Japanese culture and custom would predicate that Kyogo always be respectful and outwardly friendly towards Rodgers.

But as you said, the main reason for his drop off in return was the change of wingers on either side.

Imagine his goal scoring record if he took penalties for us btw. It's already fantastic but it would have been phenomenal.

If he was confident at taking them he would have scored a load of penalties in his time here. He wasn't. Imagine is your keyword there.

He's only taken one penalty for us and he missed it. For a good couple of years we didn't have a really good penalty taker and he didn't do it. Probably a reason.

Yeah you don't talk about problems in public in Japan, they're a very private people.

There has been talk for a while/changing agents etc but his non celebration at Dingwall was when I knew he was going, looked like someone unhappy and we couldn’t stand in his way any longer.

Tbf to him he didn’t down tools this season at all even though he wasn’t getting as many goals as he’d like, he was still giving 100% which is rare for a football player wanting to leave.

Time will tell how France works out for him but it’s a new challenge for him. I don’t think staying here would’ve improved him any more and he’s 30 now so probably last chance at a top 5 league. Especially when we are winning at ease and he has trophies galore last couple of years it’s time for something new.

Think it’ll be a * show him going there. Similar wrong choice/club as hooper leaving for norwich.

More so with kyogo though Rennes already have a brilliant young French prospect in Kalimuendo…they won’t drop him for Kyogo. Therefore he will get a few appearances off the bench, inevitably not score and then not be given a proper run in the team

not sure at £10 mil why a team in England didn’t pick him up. Even a team like Leeds United he’d have been perfect for with their style of attack
